Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

My reading is that QF allowance will apply for all flights except the last, where I think the JAL allowance might apply as it appears to be the MSC (first airline crossing from one IATA Traffic Area to another). But I'm relying on very old knowledge I haven't used in a while...

So I’ve had my U-class OWA booked since December 21 for this September, commencing with a PER-MEL flight to connect with a JAL flight (MEL-NRT-SEA). Original booking had a 3-hour layover in MEL – plenty of time to transfer, even in the event of a delay from PER. A few weeks ago I get an email from Qantas saying they had cancelled my PER-MEL flight and we were now on a later flight, due to arrive in MEL 1 hour prior to my JAL flight. That being a crazy risky scenario (great work Qantas), we decide it’s best to change flights out of PER. The only direct flight with U availability leaves Perth at 6:00 am and arrives in Melbourne at 11:30, a good 13 hours prior to our JAL flight. No worries there as we can catch up with family in Melbourne for the day.

Made the call to Qantas and after 5 hours on the phone have successfully changed the PER-MEL flight, and added a flight home to Perth from Melbourne on our return leg (JFK-HND-NRT-MEL), which I wasn’t able to do when booking online originally. No changes to the JAL flights in or out of Australia, or to the host of internal USA flights booked on AA as part of the OWA. Total additional taxes/fees $12.50. Confirmation email to be sent 24-48 hours later.

So it’s now 5 days later and still no confirmation email. I haven’t had the additional fees/taxes charged to my card yet.

The updated flights are visible in My Bookings on the Qantas site, and they show up as being part of a single leg (i.e. Perth to Seattle, then New York to Perth coming home) but when I send myself a copy of the itinerary via MMB it still shows the original PER-MEL flight (the one that Qantas originally cancelled) and no return MEL-PER flight. The new flight details also show up on CheckMyTrip, and also on the “My Bookings” pages of both JAL and AA. The AA site shows my flights as “Ticketed”.

So I guess my question here is – is this likely to be a revalidation scenario or re-ticketing? Should I get back on the phone to Qantas or should I wait it out for a bit?

Likely a re-ticketing delay. I had a similar issue with a OWA change a few weeks ago. Took 7 or 8 days to re-ticket.

On CMT under the new flight, click on the six digit Amadeus reference. That takes you through to another screen which may show a ticket number, If it shows a ticket number for that flight, then all is good. If it is blank then it has not been ticketed.

There's no ticket number in checkmytrip, however, there has never been one show up in the app, even with the original itinerary which has the 81- ticket numbers listed on it.

If that field is blank then you have a problem. If you are not seeing a blank field then you are looking at the wrong screen.

You need to look under "Passenger Information" which is a drop-down tab below the flight info on the app

Yep. Passenger Info shows my FF number and Cabin Class, but no e-ticket number and never has, even though, as I say, I received my original e-ticket numbers from Qantas. I might try and delete and re-enter my trip in CMT and see what comes up.

@Guvner, can you help a CheckMyTrip newbie out? I'm not seeing the 'Passenger Information' drop-down. Beneath the flight info there's 'Trip tools' and 'More details' but nothing abt passengers.
Go onto the itinerary. Under the flight you are interested in, click on the six figure Amadeus code - AB1C2D - and that will take you through to the screen that will have ticket numbers.

You probably should call them back again, Ponky. I've been told that no one routinely checks if a booking is stalled in the queue. A CSA needs to take it out of the queue and re-direct it for manual processing and they will only do that if you alert them to the delay.

Sorry for the hijack (are we allowed to say that on an air travel forum??), but looking at my OWA reference in CMT, my 'Confirmation number' (as shown in Guvner's image above) is not a hyper link and not clickable?

I also have no passenger information tab, no name, no FF number, no cabin class, no seat number, etc.

This bit here that I have tried to obscure in red?

Yep. In the Android app FWIW. Just tried on my PC and it is clickable, but has basically no details besides Ref, aircraft, baggage and meal.
Use the website not the app 😀. If you click through and there’s no ticket number then it hasn’t been ticketed. The ticket numbers are added in real time.

Hmm. I have ticket numbers on my, well, e-tickets issued by eticket@amadeus (for Cathay Pacific) but they're not showing on CMT. Just tried the website and while the PNR is clickable, like @djkelly there is no ticket number or seat number or anything useful.

With respect to Mr H's knowledge on this, would anyone else be able to add some data points before I embark on a long and potentially extremely disheartening call to Qantas?

I've signed up for a CMT account so I can check for you. Just waiting on an email confirmation.

As an aside - does anyone have any good resources/tools to monitor for when new flights are added between certain routes and/or on certain dates? For example I see HK have announced they will re-welcome tourists/visitors from May onwards. Is there something out there which can alert me when CX flights between MEL-HKG are added for a certain date (or date range)?
