New question:

Now I have my itinerary, manage my booking will not let me select a seat - "not eligible".

The last time I booked a J "one world award", pre-covid, I was able to select seats.

I am only Bronze, but a Lifetime QC member

Has something changed so seat selection is no longer included/available?

Plug the PNR into the "manage booking" functions on each of the airline websites you'll be flying.

Go to one of the non-QF carriers MMB page, and try seat allocation there.

Yes, I’ve also done this on QF and AA.

Edit: Anyway, the wheels fall off if it’s not ticketed pretty quick on some airlines, especially with QR (can be gone in 24 hours)

No I haven't received my e-ticket yet. Only received email saying fill out APIS urgently straight after I paid - I completed details immediately - 15hrs later still says "not eligible" on all flights.

I will try suggestions of going to partner sites.

If QR is in the mix, the priority is ticketing. Even if seats can be selected, they will be irrelevant on flights that collapse. Fingers crossed for the eticket. 🤞

Hi all, been lurking for quite a while now. This has been a very helpful thread in booking my Qantas OW bookings so thank you.

The last legs of my J award booking has been changed and re-ticketed. I was supposed to have 1hr 20mins layover but it's been reduced to 1 hour. I already began the RTW journey.

Is 1 hour enough transfer time in Singapore between OW airlines? Transfer is between Finnair and Qantas.

HEL-SIN (1hr layover) SIN-PER
 
They should both be in the same Terminal (T1) and probably both will be at C gates, so assuming HEL-SIN is on time you should be OK with the same PNR. I'd wear runners though..

I think minimum connecting time AY->QF is one hour. But be warned, if your Finnair flight is even one minute past the MCT you will be moved off the qantas flight and onto another flight… possibly jetstar if there is one leaving later. This happened to a friend of mine a couple months ago… lost their business class on Qantas for a ‘business’ on jetstar as they were five minutes late touching down.

If that happens, argue that coughstar is not part of OneWorld and therefore not acceptable on a OWA. I'd be interested to know how that would fly.
 
Just about anything can happen under IRROPS. I guess the alternative would be to wait 24 hours until the next flight, own expense?

I would prefer that - but obviously it is about negotiating what works best for the individual at the time.

Apologies for being out of practice! I was advance planning for a possible RTW in 2025 that included Brazil, Peru and Chile but Latam leaving OW has messed this up. I see they are still a partner of QF. Any way to get some kind of RTW that includes Latam?

Hi Tiki. I think you can get into/out of South America using American Airlines or Iberia but travel within South America is going to be really difficult. Probably revenue flights on an open jaw or 'surface' sector.
 
I had naively assumed that simultaneously holding an outbound ticket and an inbound ticket would suffice but having looked at the Ts and Cs I am not so sure - it looks like it may end to be on the same ticket number. I will ask for clarification.

I asked: "I have an ANZ Black Rewards credit card. I understand that the complimentary international travel insurance requires a return ticket to Australia. Does this include holding two one way tickets - one leaving Australia and the other returning to Australia - at either end of the international trip or do both journeys have to be included on the same ticket number?"

I have had a response from the ANZ travel team that says: "Please be advised that all you need is to have a return ticket to Australia before you leave Australia, it doesn’t have to be on the same ticket number"

That is a big relief.

I was afraid of that. There used to be a different RTW that had more options like TN who is not OW but partners with QF. I did this back in 2008. Star Alliance is no good for getting back from SCL.

I think there is a risk of confusing potential readers. This thread is really about OWAs, not Round the World options or Star Alliance. AFAIK, your only options on a OWA are to travel within South America on your own initiative and the options for getting in and out are limited - mostly to BA, IB and AA routes.

Thanks! Nice to have that confirmed. The PDS is a bit unclear, but likely that any ambiguity would be decided in favour of the consumer anyway.
