Word of warning: Lahore.
I had a LHE-CMB flight on UL in business class as part of a OWA. On trying to check in, the ground services manager asked me for one lakh rupees (more than $500) for issuing the boarding pass. He mumbled something about departure tax. I objected and asked to see documentation to show I had to pay this - was told there was none - but told it had to be paid. I asked to pay by credit card, but was told their machine was broken - cash only. I asked whether I would get a receipt and was told the receipt would be in the system. In the event I did not have enough cash, but would probably not have paid anyway. I was told that in that case, I would be downgraded to economy and if I had any objections then I would not be allowed to fly. I was left with little option but to accept an economy boarding pass along with (bizarrely) an invitation to the business class lounge. On the plane, I discovered that the economy seat number I had been given had been issued to another passenger already. I was told to go to a seat that appeared empty on the manifest. I did ask the cabin crew whether I could sit in the seat I had paid for in business class but the crew had been told by the ground services manager that under no circumstances was I to sit in business class as I had voluntarily downgraded.
