Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

For revenue flight look at Vueling they usually have cheap BCN fares and are the JetStar of Iberia.

Sometimes they stop en route and you have to change planes. This is called a revueling stop.

I found they had plenty of direct flights, I need to go BCN-SPU; Vueling were only airline with a direct flight on day i needed to fly and were $100 cheaper than Iberia or BA even after paying for a checked bag, where i would have had to change planes. So it is worth checking as a comparison point imo.

But as always YMMV.

Loosely related query! I had made a booking through QF for a EK flight while I was gold. I have since moved up to platinum status, according to Emirates for seat selection (which still has me as QF Gold per the time i made the booking) is there some way I can get this updated on Emriates end before the flight next month so I can get full access to seat selection? Or int heory is it meant to be auto updated?

I remember back in the day this used to be the OWA thread.

Hi team
Slowly working my way through the 731 pages of this thread as I plan my first OWA trip for 2024.

Has anyone ever worked out an itinerary which allowed for two separate trips to Europe on the one ticket? I fear the sectors and 35k miles would be the undoing but curious to know if it’s possible and whether it’s worth the risk if you are going to the limit is of the fare rules in every way.

Obviously starting the trip overseas and getting probably having to finish in Perth or Darwin I’d think for the miles

Thanks

You can't start in Aus, return to Aus, then leave Aus again. You may like to have the first return wind up in SE Asia somewhere.

It's possible but you'll have to start and end in Asia so factor in the separate cost of a return fare to Asia. It will also likely have to be a basic itinerary. I don't think you can afford to do side trips or indirect routings. For example this basic itinerary is already 34,848 miles - SIN-LHR-HKG-SYD-HKG-CDG-LHR-SIN

Would through check work on that itinerary (particularly baggage)? AFAIK BA and EK no longer have an interline agreement. But Symesy9 will be initially checking in with QF, and the EK flight is a QF codeshare.

Recently did one ticket MXP>LHR>DXB>MEL, first two legs on BA and last on EK, agent in Milan wouldn't check our bags through onto EK, but we had 12 hours so wasn't fussed about grabbing them as were going landside to a hotel anyway, so didn't bother pushing him on it even though I had looked and seen there was an interline agreement

Hello. I recently had a minor (5min) flight change for my OWA flights starting in 2 weeks, which I accepted. I notice just checking rj.com that the ticket number has changed. I have had no update from QANTAS which I guess is unsurprisingly normal. Could I just check that this is OK practice and there is nothing to be worried about? Thanks!

I recently completed a J OWA which commenced in September 2022 and finished May 2023, booked all online in one hit in the first week of June 2022. My miles figure is a bit ineresting but I figure that's QF IT for you. No chance I'd be able to book anything like that now.

Looks like it would have been a great trip.
Booking that today would be a bit problematic particularly with all the Qatar segments even more so with the recent rejection of additional flight slots by the government for QR.

Message them for an updated eticket on twitter and/or messenger. They seem rather competent.

Sigh. Messenger was just a bot. Will persevere. I had really thought that hate energy was all over. The thought of ringing a call centre again appals me
Just type in 'Operator' and it should connect you. Might take 8-12 hours for initial reply though, but if you then reply promptly they get back to you quickly

After asking for an e-ticket through messenger, the below was received. Not the most direct route but really don't care as it should be a terrific experience. Grateful!

As mentioned, that's a pretty convoluted route just to redeem first and business.

Not sure I'd be willing to transit 3 times to get to London!

Should be a good experience though nonetheless (apart from the small Embraer flight).
