I booked a Oneworld international flight trip (using the 140,000 point aware) some time ago and was advised by Qantas today that there had been a schedule change which meant a booked connection was no longer possible.

Qantas were helpful and indicated they would do whatever they could to assist me. The affected flights (next month) are on another airline, Iberia.

There are alternative Oneworld flights available but it seems there may not be any frequent flyer seats.

Considering the ticket was booked in good faith and issued accordingly, what is the usual practice when an airline makes a schedule change that has a significant impact on the travel plans.

Thanks in anticipation

I've got a feeling that the T&Cs of Award travel are going to say "sorry but we will offer to fly you when seats award available". That is probably their obligation but given the proximity to the travel you aren't going to find the seats.

In my experience, keep onto the phone to Qantas as they are going to have to convince Iberia to release an award seat for you.

1. Maybe do some background research using the various availability tools to make it as easy as possible for Qantas. ie identify an alternate Oneworld routing that has plenty of availability. Look for plenty of availability in paid classes.

2. Maybe post the specific problem sector on this forum and see what ideas come from that.

3. Prepare to pay for the sector. Is that an option?

Good luck.

Pleased to say I have been booked on a direct flight instead of the roundabout route!

I can rest easy now.

Can you let the forum know how it unfolded, just in case we find ourselves in a similar future situation.

2 posts at the same time :) they managed to get a direct flight.

Generally airlines will look after you some how. So far i have yet to be disappointed when an airline has changed schedule even on award tickets.
