HOLD your horses and your spending patterns!!!

Forget Woolies and Coles for that matter. The small amount of fuel discounts and the continued cutbacks of points systems has been overturned by BankWest and Qantas. I don't work for any of these companies nor am I affiliated but being in engineering I can do some maths. Grocery shopping to save 20 times that of fuel doc's answer is Aldai. Payment system that can earn you 5 yes 5 points per dollar spent is new transaction card from BankWest which can be used as a debit card and ALSO a point earner based on account balance. NO BRAINER PEOPLE

The bankwest transaction card earns 5 Points per transaction not per $.

In a related survey I just completed through Nine Rewards, I was offered all sorts of new Woolies credit card scenarios and asked to pick which card would be my favourite and whether I would apply. I don't have all the scenarios presented but the screenshot gives you a flavour of the sort of cards they are considering.

The only thing I don't like with the EDR program is that 50% of the time I have to contact them because bonus points have not been allocated to my account. Just this week the bonus 500 points for spending over $100 at BWS I had to contact - sorry, you must not have activated your reward. Err ... Yes I did.
Having to keep my receipts until the points hit my account is a pain.
I used to check bonus points for each of the 4 accounts I manage. Too much work so I don't bother checking anymore. Just a simple check that balance increases every month. Hopefully I am not losing too many points.

Careful, I thought you weren't supposed to screenshot etc these types of surveys. I haven't done any surveys like this recently although I did a similar one a while ago on mobile phone data plans.

I'd be interested in doing the original survey mentioned earlier in this thread.

Interesting that the examples suggest there may be a switch from Mastercard to Visa. I wonder if fee waiver will be as easy?

The WOW QF option is a dud @ 0.75 P per $

This was just the example. There were actually 12 scenarios with different points earn, annual fees, offers, etc, etc.

Looks as though all the Visa/Mastercards are going to be duds in the near term. I have an ANZ Platinum Visa and Amex. I only use the Amex to get 1.5 points per dollar. Locked the Visa card away, and never use it as it is only .5 of a point.

I got the Woolies Mastercard specifically to deal with the places that I cannot use Amex, ie Council Rates, Water, Doctor etc.

Just got the new agreement for the transfer of the Woolies card from HSBC to Maquarie. Annual Fee has gone up and other changes. The millionaires factory won't be sitting on their hands with this. It's all about making money.

I am now unemployed, so the difficulties of getting a new card to replace Woolies don't bear thinking about. Having said that, the 1:1 points cards are rapidly disappearing. I am wondering if the leprechaun has increased the cost of points to Woolies, banks etc.

All in all, I am now seriously considering the value of any frequent flyer scheme. They have all been devalued so much, and for normal people like me, totally useless in terms of getting a flight of any description, because of capacity restrictions etc. I don't want a toaster, I want flights, nothing else. Then there's the taxes, most of them totally out of the ball park. Many people now point out that it is probably cheaper to fly just using the best fare you can find at the time. Sadly, loyalty has become a one way street.

In any case, Qantas is now a lost cause, and not worth the effort. If the leprechaun, and the current dysfunctional board is not replaced soon, then I don't believe the airline will survive. I am just trying to get enough points to take one last trip on QF, and then I am out. Have quite a few Velocity points built up, so if I can find a way to get a Velocity earning card, then I will give them a go for awhile.
