OOL Gathering - Sat 15th Feb 2014

Reports of the night, did anybody crash the boat?

The first inaugural OOL AFF BBQ went off without a hitch.

A mixture of AFF, featuring some new faces to me, and a handful of locals.

The potential accommodation issues were resolved by the rooms division manager, and all suites were made available for those not connecting that evening.

The forecast that morning looked bleak, and the skies were grey - by 1pm however the Gold Coast turned itself on and truly showed us why Queensland is known as the Sunshine state.

All in all it was a day consisting of delicious food, great company, a carton of beer, a bottle of bacardi a few dozen bottles of pinot grigio, despite one the usual suspects, Penegal, being AWOL (which in fairness did save having to buy another case of wine).

The airport transfer service this morning to OOL was fast and free, and also offered a complementaty welcome bottle of scotch. Blackcat & tomvexile are enjoying a late checkout, while airwin departed early this morning for his return flight to BNE.

Thanks for having the opportunity to join in yesterday Martin, with yourself & your charming Mum so hospitable.
Was a delightful time enjoying the ambience & with very pleasant company.
Hope to catch up for another rendezvous in the near future.
Cheers,
jl.

Late checkout was sorely needed. Had a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. Now in Coolangatta getting a bite before heading for the airport. It was a great day and good to meet some new people.

Massive thanks to MartinMemo for putting on this event on. Also thanks to AIRwin for driving myself and blackcat20 from BNE yesterday.

The number of smiles is proportional to the amount of alcohol plied upon the pilot ;) :p

anat0l flight 2 to BNE left after a long delay due to the late clearance of the operating crew. The red-eye flight eventually arrived with no further delays or incidents. :)

Big props to MartinMemo for putting on this event. It was a great afternoon / evening and it was good to catch up with familiar faces and meet new faces. :)

I must have crossed paths with a black cat, given how accident prone I was on Saturday. Oh, wait.... :p
