Opinion on Q suites

An issue in what way?

Your seat choice is either window/backwards or aisle/forwards, so depends if you want to be closer to the window or not.

From those seats available, personally, I'd take 5K/J, only because they are window seats, 1K is close to the front galley and the mini cabin shares a boarding door with Y.

Yes, the stream of Y passengers bring a different air to the otherwise relaxed mood of a J cabin during boarding. But I do sometimes get a kick out of the Y parade glancing at my champagne and footstool as they walk by.

To be honest I try not look at them and am discreet. I've been a Y passenger for too long and with kids and thats all my kids and grandkids can afford right now.

That got old for me a long time ago. When I travel in J, it is for a bit more comfort and space, but we're all going to the same place. It's still just a seat on an aeroplane.

Going to be my first time on the Qsuite in a week or so. EXCITED!!
I have 4 flights lined up but a few changed - 1 for the better and the other is worse:
ICN - DOH (Qsuite)
DOH-ARN (New AY)
AMS-DOH (old 2-2-2 QR)
DOH-ICN (Qsuite)

I selected the following based on the current option:

And the old 2-2-2 config..
Looks like the mini cabin is empty, would it be better there?

So here is my dumb question. We like sitting together but Mrsdrron hates backwards facing seats so the middle seats seem out of the question if it’s Q suites.
So if we select the 2 rows on the side - one rear facing and one forward can we see and talk to each other?

No. Hard cocooned.

so the middle seats seem out of the question if it’s Q suites.

You can get forward facing seat pairs in the middle - every second row.
EDIT!!! Sorry ... tclarification. The forward facing seats/beds pairs are on the aisle side, so no double bed snuggle, but they are together of course with lowerable barrier.

You can see one another with the small partition lowered but it is hardly intimate. Think prison visiting.

No adjustable partition on the side suites. 🙂

@RooFlyer is spot on. Other than takeoff and landing you completely forget the direction. Especially in the middle seats. Totally recommend Qatar. Impeccable service. Emirates too. But that's been longer.

We have had rear facing middle seats that formed a double bed. Certainly excellent but I prefer the single side.

@drron pls see my edit above.
There’s probably some witty explanation why newlyweds get to sit close together but look backwards, while seasoned married couples get to look forward while comfortably spaced apart - but still in ear and eye shot…

I usually take a solo window, rear facing…

My wife won’t sit anywhere else but a window seat and whilst a window seat is my preference I won’t lose any sleep over it. We usually end up not sitting near each other. I prefer the backwards facing seats and will always choose them if a option

Yep. We have no qualms having someone sitting on a staggered aisle seat if we both get windows.

On our three Q Suites flights I preferred the rear facing seats and my wife the forward facing seats. I like the extra privacy in the rear facing ones and she doesn't like facing the rear - in trains as well. We will always choose the single seats to the dual ones. Being together on a trip for a month allows plenty of time for talk off the plane. Of course we have been married for 47 years so it is doubtful that we can be considered newlyweds.;)

I assume from the fact that you were able to select the seats, you paid for the ticket rather than got redemption tickets?

Me and +1 are travelling Doh- Adl....is 1E, 1F OK? Rear facing (no issue for us) and can be turned into a double bed I gather

That's exactly what we do.

Note that 1K is slightly smaller than 2J in terms of storage and "arm room". Mind you I'm 6"2' and hefty and it was fine for me.

Only slight issue with rear facing is that if you have a water bottle or something on the side bench thingy it goes flying down the aisle on rapid deceleration (i.e. landing)

I’ve flown 4 times in Qatar business, and I have another 4 flights booked, all using points. I’ve been able to select our seats each time.
