Overnight at Singapore airport

Next month, we have an overnight stop in Singapore. Arrival (T1) is on QF 35 ex-Melbourne due 1800. Departure (T3) is on LH 9765 (SQ 326) 1055 the following day.
We have a RTW ticket Melbourne-Frankfurt/Munich-Los Angeles-Brisbane-Melbourne.

Can we expect to have luggage checked through from Melbourne to Frankfurt?

We have booked the Crowne Plaza airport hotel for the overnight stop. Will we have to go through Singapore immigration formalities to leave the airport and enter the hotel?

On this basis, how long should we allow for check-in the following morning? We would like to spend as much time in the hotel as possible but without compromising our onward flight.

BTW our RTW ticket is issued by LH but the only flight in a LH plane is from Munchen to Los Angeles. We as pleased the LH flight from Singapore to Frankfurt is operated by SQ.

Crowne Plaza is landside (but connected to terminals) so need to enter Singapore.

Next day check in 90 mins prior to departure. If already checked in then go to immigration about 1 hour before departure if you don't want to spend time in lounge or shopping. Immigration is always quick at SIN. Security is at gate so also fairly quick.
 
Agreed. Although if you have lounge access you can still reach the airport whatever time you want to, as long as you leave the lounge by about 10:25 (30mins before departure), depending on which gate you are departing on, gates close 10 mins before departure, but on longer flights they seem to want everyone on board a little earlier than that. Note entering airside through passport check machines is at most a 5min process.

You should be able to through check, but if not on arrival you could just walk 50m across to Jewel and do an early check in at the early check in facility there. Not far from T1 arrivals the terminal QF arrives at.

In T3 security is mostly shared between two adjacent gates. A few have more gates shared but generally won't have more than a couple of flights leaving from those gates within a short period of time.

Still much better than centralized security screening for predictability of how long it will take to clear.
 
Not to hijack this thread but have a similar question so saves me creating a new topic.

Flying J SYD-SIN on SQ242 arriving at 0020hrs and then departing J SIN-JFK on SQ24 at 1210hrs. Would there be enough time to stay somewhere in the city or should I just book somewhere close to the airport? Looking at Hiltons primarily but not sure if its worth the trek into the city for such a short layover. I won’t need my checked luggage if that helps.

Look for a cheap hotel in Geylang. Just make sure it doesn't have a red light out the front. ;)
I've previously found places that are clean and cheap, They are very small but perfectly adequate for a layover such as yours.

What is your budget?
There is the issue of Jetlag

1830hrs in JFK = 0830hrs in SYD.
So I would want to sleep early in the the JFK flight for about 6 hrs, then try to stay awake for the rest of the flight to JFK. Otherwise you will be wide awake when you arrive in JFK

But that means trying to sleep around 1410hrs SYD time
To get ahead of the jet lag, I would actually not sleep when in SIN... and actually sleep on the SQ242 if you can

Cheap? I stayed in Geylang many times when I was single. I never saw the issues that were reported on TripAdvisor. Hotels clean and not noisier than any other budget hotel.

By the way I've had a few overnight transits in SIN recently. Cheapest hotel rates in SIN were the ones in Geylang ~AUD120-A150. Not paying that much for a few hours sleep. Decided to sleep in lounge on both occasions.

Not too fussed on budget. I honestly hadn’t considered the time difference yet so staying awake in SIN and then sleeping on the SIN-JFK leg sounds appealing. It’s an 18+ hour journey so getting a decent sleep would certainly break up the flight.

But on the flip side I could sleep in SIN, stay awake for the JFK flight and then get a good nights sleep in JFK as I land in the evening.

It will be difficult to stay awake for the JFK flight if intend to sleep in SIN - basically if you sleep in SIN you won't have any sleep deficit. Your body clock will cause you to start feeling sleepy in the 2nd half of the JFK flight then causing you to be wide awake when you land in JFK which will actually be 0830am SYD time

A 12hr layover likely means hotel room at 2am and then checking out a 9am
Just out of Changi is an area called Tampines which has a few hotels. OrCrowne Plaza at Changi itself

Will disagree with the stay up all night option, (depending on your age :p).

I like being well rested before ULH flights and the reality is you will probably wake around 6-7am Singapore time anyway. So I’d sleep in hotel and the enjoy the first service and try and nap for the first half of the flight and stay awake for the second half of the flight.

If at an airport hotel you should be in your room by 00:45 or if in town about 01:15. Being through checked you would need to leave a hotel in town by around 10:30ish and later if at airport, depending on how much lounge time you want.

Security at the main terminals at SIN is gate based, so will be dedicated to your flight )or at most one other as well), this eliminates the biggest uncertainty at most airports when departing (the variability of a general security line).
 
30 going on 18 so I’m always down for a late night, especially in a new city. I might book something in the city itself and start looking at things to do etc.

In all honestly though, I’ll probably hit the bar hard on the flight over and be ready for some sleep by the time I get to the hotel.
 
There are "dayuse"/partial use options like the ST Signature - they have rates for private rooms (many but not all are shared shower facilities though) with full automated check in (to avoid issues around late check-in times) for ranges of times like 12am - 8am, usually it will set you back around $80-$90, depending on what the airport hotels are charging it can be a cheaper option although you do have to factor in a taxi there and possibly back - or just take the MRT if it is open at either arrival or departure time.
 
Given the timing and your assessment that you'll already have hit the bar hard on the flight, I'd be staying at the Aerotel in T1 for six hours - single room is about S$140 for that period. No need to clear immigration or catch a taxi. Check in say 1am and checkout say 7am gives you a few hours sleep. Then a couple of hours at the airport to wander around and buy duty free then hit the lounge for a couple of hours before boarding.

Save the fleshpots of Geylang and Four Floors for another time!
