We're arriving on QF79 into Haneda and departing the following morning on BA8 to London and then to Barcelona ie. a 13 hour layover in Haneda...I want to check our luggage through to BCN from Melbourne so will it be possible to do this with our long overnight connection at Haneda ?

The people who might know the answer to the question (not me) might want to check, are you also on BA from London to Barcelona (and from the same airport where BA8 lands)?

As a noob, I wasn’t aware that it was possible to check luggage all the way through unless it was the same airline all the way through or one airline sold you all the tickets as a single trip.

There’s an exception with an award ticket connecting onto a one world carrier that allows for checked baggage in this instance from MEL-BCN via HND and LHR with BA

Did this is December because of a schedule change/flight cancellation.
We stayed at Tokyu Stay Kamata and it was great. Easy to get to and there is a few walking streets near by with lots of restaurants/shops

Stayed at Villa Fontaine last week and an easy walk to the terminal but rooms are quite small and think Royal Parks rooms are bigger and we’ll stay there next year

Hilton Yokohama is really nice (it’s a new hotel) and usually cheap. Direct train from Yokohama station to HND - 26 minutes. Hilton is about a 10 min walk from the station or it’s a 1000 JPY taxi ride.

I stayed here on my last visit and now planning to use it as my transit hotel, sure airport hotel would be easier but would rather get dinner etc outside of the airport precinct.

Villa Fontaine Grand. Connected to the airport via an enclosed walkway full of shops and eateries.

i second Villa Fontaine. And it is still newish.

We also stayed at Villa Fontaine and it was really convenient. Also, the onsen there is lovely. If it's only for an overnight, I reckon the rooms are big enough. We had 2 people, 3 checked luggage and a ski bag, plus back packs and it was still fine. I'd do it for the absolute convenience - 5-10 mins 2 walk from terminal with lots of food and convenience stores.
