I have an upcoming SQ flight in J and will be stopping overnight in Singapore. It wasn't booked as a stopover as such, the onwards flight just leaves 20 hours later. Will they let us collect our luggage in Singapore and check it in again in the next morning?

Thank you.

Yes no problem - with a connection of that length check in agent will normally ask do you want to check your luggage through to final destination but you can definitely ask to collect in SIN if you want.

It also sometimes a preference to check it all the way through. Just take what you need for the one night in the carryon.

For me, it reduces the amount of 'stuff' i need to carry, makes the transfer to taxi, hotel etc lighter and faster.

Have a similar question so i'll post it here.

I'm overnighting/Stop over in SIN in August this year. 6am arrival and 9.30am departure next morning.

Just wondering whether I should book the airport hotel or book one in the city? Have lounge access at the airport so wouldn't mind checking in/arriving early for some breaky.

I had similar situation coming this July. I decided to book ambassador transit hotel instead of city. Main reason: I am not a morning person, so I chose the closest to the airport, so i had more time to sleep LOL

I like your thinking! I hate mornings if I can help it. The transit hotel would be ideal, in terms of waking up and checking out and straight into the airport you go. I can already see myself waking up 10mins before boarding. However just for during the day, just want the convenience of having hotel there to go back to if you want to go for a quick nap/rest. Might be leaning towards city hotel for the convenience of going back and forth if we need.

Hi ninja-tim, we stayed overnight in the city and it was well worth it. Singapore is super muggy and hot so it was nice to head back to the hotel to refresh before heading out to the airport for our next flight. Depending on what you want to see in Singapore, something on Orchard Road or near The Quays area would be nice.

I would definitely be heading into the city. What would you plan to do at the airport for 20 awake hours?

Remember that your body clock is on your last city, so if it was me, 9:30am SIN time is 11:30am BNE time, so I would be well awake.

So, if you book a city hotel, you might sleep, you might go out for a meal, ride the flyer etc etc. For a 9:30am, flight you would be leaving city hotel in a taxi at 6:30-7am. (or body clock 8:30 - 9am)

The transit hotels are also well priced for 6 hour stays but I don't think they are cost effective for long stays. I do use transit when i arrive late and depart early.

I just think 26 hours is too long.

Definitely stay in the city.

We recently booked the transit hotel for an 11:00pm arrival and 10:00am next day departure with 2 kids. 9 hours in a double room was SGD220.

For a morning arrival and next day departure I'd head into the city and spend the day/night looking around.

Depending on which lounge you have access to the offerings may be pretty ordinary.
