Overview of Best Qantas Status Run Options [not the discussion thread]

I need to book MLE-CMB for Jan and was thinking UL for QF points/SCs. Shame about the date range.

We flew Y MLE-CMB on UL in May and found it quite acceptable plus a very cheap fare (although unable to earn QF points in the booked class. I think I sent my points to USDM). We were able to select seats in the forward part of the aircraft and the meal and service was surprisingly good.
There is only one lounge at MLE - it was basic but acceptable for the couple of hours we had to fill in before our flight.

I have been checking the DXB-CMB-SIN flights for quite some time as we need to return to SIN after a one way cruise and the cheapest fare has been $725 so this sale came at a good time.

For those who cant go to LOTFASC to do SCruns,

try QF website MEL-CHC via SYD. Price is the same as a SYD-CHC but 2 sectors so more SC

Approx $1750 for 240 SC = 7.3SC/$

Will have to overnight in CHC

Would love some info on LOTFAP Status Runs. Where to book/how to book/rules/what earns, what doesn't.

Thanks heaps for that JessicaTam. Give me some light reading while at work over Xmas.

One more thing , will I have to join AA or will all points credit straight to QFF?

I have my last ever JASA in May. BNE-SYD-CHC -WLG(jet*) then AKL - BNE -TSV - BNE. 330 SC's + whatever we get on Jet*nz

Just noticed something while looking at a run to Cairns from Syd. Noticed the cheapest fares normal price were Syd-Mel-Cns, and having a look at the Mel-Cns sector it gets the same SCs as a Bne-Cns flight would. Is this the simpler and fairer thing striking again? For $6 more and a few hours less in the sky for the same SCs Syd-Bne-Cns seems the best option.

That's interesting, I've never seen SYD-MEL-CNS to be the cheapest but always the most expensive.

But yes that's simpler and fairer striking again. For $6 I'd do SYD-BNE-CNS as well. That time wasted flying through MEL isn't worth it for $6.

If you're doing a run and looking for a return option with HLO, look at CNS-SYD-CBR or CNS-BNE-SYD-CBR. Fare structure tends to be cheaper a little bit cheaper and you can just strike the last leg SYD-CBR if HLO.

Edit: This brings up my 1000th post too :D

Glad I could be of assistance on post 1000!

I'm based out of Syd so I'd go via Bris. I've got until 31 Dec though so I'm going to hold out for a DSC or similar which would really make it worthwhile. Sale fares have it down to under $800 each way too which is pretty good.

Oh right it's in J... I'm more accustomed to Y pricing and ignore J hahah.

Business from CBR (or SYD) to CGK is looking good if you need a status run. Although it's in the mk1 skybed.

Did some testing and it's calculating 330 status points for $2555.65
e.g. Out of CBR Wednesday 10th June, back Monday 22nd June: $7.74 per SC
Heaps of other dates available

Out of Sydney return is 240 for $2050: $8.54 per SC

I need to do it anyway for work, but thought I'd share. looks like the sale fare puts you in business flex fare type for the CBR-SYD leg (45 SC), but only if you pick the right flights.
