wow not bad. I had been listening to Noel Phillips, and flying via North Africa QATAR Airways can also net interesting deals. Via Cairo, Tunis and is not as glamorous via Terminal 5 LHR. Melbourne in first can be 1800 USD dollars compared to 18K if booked starting in Paris.
I hadn't seen your post before - but the word Cairo caught my eye - looking at the video now! Thanks heaps!

OK so Cairo-Doha in First is 150SC, DOH-MEL in F is 120SC, but DOH-SIN is 150SC's in F - seems pretty obvious that CAI-DOH-SIN on Qatar then QF home from there is the way to go.

Didn’t think QR had first class on those routes to Singapore and Melbourne. Are you sure it’s not a mixed fare ticket?
They only have F on their A380’s and some of their Cathay aircraft they are leasing.
Their intra ME flights are all business class that they label as First class

SYD-NOU is showing as $1099, it is SYD-NLK that is $999
Both, as mentioned are the going Sale fares we’ve been seeing for 12 mths or so now.

NAN is still nowhere near the $1,500 range we used to see pre Covid 🤷‍♂️

SYD-YVR @ $5,999 is also a number we’re seeing regularly. Not a “bargain” per se but a lot cheaper than USA non-stop for anyone looking to get to Nth America and happy to be a bit more creative. Last year I was able to get SYD-YVR//YUL-ORD-LAX-SYD J all QF codes for ~$6.5k. Travelled across the US with AS and AA.

Huge difference

Was just thinking SYD-NOU was pretty reasonable value for SCs, but then I noticed the NZ sale J pricing was for a round-trip ticket, and not only one-way, as it so often is presented for NZ. A$1,199 return from SYD to AKL/WLG/CHC and others yields 160SCs at $7.50/SC. Not too bad without any SC promo? I think I didn't get much better than that in the last DSC promo, overall!

Cheers,

With “Club Europe type” SC earn

Yep! CAI-DOH for 150SC's = 50SC's per flying hour seems good value for time!
For those interested, the earn for J is 100SC per leg for one way CAI-DOH-SIN - that may turn out to be a better SC per $ earn than then 150SC's per leg for F - will have to do some research. Earning for the same legs on EK is 105SC for J per leg, and 110SC for flex J - but I'm tipping that the J fares on EK are considerably more expensive than on Qatar.

Does anyone know about earning SC's on Qatar - does it have to be a QF flight number or can it be a Qatar flight number?

See my post above.
Not sure where you are getting this First fare from but Qatar doesn’t have first class on DOH-SIN route

Qantas has discounted more than half a million seats on most of its international network, including Paris, London and New York, as part of its International Red Tail sale.

The international Qantas sale coincides with the end of school holidays with fares starting from $529 return for Economy and $999 return for Business.

One should find some interesting SC options there.

The trusty old Gold Coast to Auckland return via Melbourne = 560 SC with a budget $85 motel in Auckland.

OOL-MEL-AKL = $922 = 140 SC = 280 Double SC = $3.29 / SC
AKL-MEL-OOL = $837 = 140 SC = 280 Double SC = $2.99 / SC

Total including booking fee and $85 motel = $1860 for 560 SC = $3.32 / SC

Have you checked the price? I couldn't see anything under five figures..

Sorry, I didn't realise the poster was doing a DONEx booking.
