P1 - Chances of being comped from WP

After recent reports here it seems to show that P1 qual or requal is strictly at 3600/2700 - which the QFF website under "Your Summary" is now showing as an "enhancement".
There was one person who posted that their P1 qualifying flight would occur one day after the cutoff and QF still said no.

I don't blame them for enforcing the rules, my guess is that when they devised the thresholds, 3600 was on the lower end and if you had to scrounge to get P1, then it wasn't for you.

It's not the 3600 that I struggle with - it's the 2700. Being Perth based getting the ~ is becoming increasingly difficult. I'm currently 4 months into my year with 2000 SCs in the bank and 1500 booked for the next couple of months. Unfortunately only about 600 will be on QF flight numbers. Typical is my upcoming trip to London where the price difference is around 2k (in J) between Qantas and Qatar. I suspect that this year will see me end up with around 6 - 7000 SCs but losing P1.
 
I doubt it as well,
and flying F there is not much benefit in any event, not like you can get an upgrade.

With that many flight's I would be looking to bank miles in another ffp. AA is good for many. But QR earning, even in F & J is not that good. But many times better than putting QR flights to the QF ffp. QR has high points earning to its own ffp
 
Like others.. I don't think Qantas will accept this. 1000 SCs are a lot of SCs.. that is almost WP re qual level (1200 SCs).. There has been reports of people missing out for 20 SCs.

That said .. there is no harm in trying. You never know. Miracles do happen!
 
Just called. Response was "sorry there is no leeway at all, even if you were 5 short with upcoming booking we wouldn't be able to upgrade your account". Ahh well - was a long shot but worth a try anyways
 
Not sure how far away you are from LTG, but seriously look at crediting the excess to AAnother FF program.

Slightly o/t, but let's hope the US/AA merger does not significantly kill off AAdvantage. With Doug in control, i'm not hopefully, but I have spent a week with the head of AAdvantage, Suzanne Rubin, and she's very well versed in our love of airlines. She actually came on the Oneworld Megado, and was a wealth of information and was always keen for feedback (and indeed has acted on various pieces we all suggested to her on the do). So it's a double edged sword.
