Mrs Chooms, Master Chooms and I are off on our first post-covid overseas trip this week. A couple of other firsts: first long haul with a toddler; and first international trip with P1 status.

A couple of questions hoping for advice:

- Mrs Chooms is v keen on the pre-departure massage at F lounge in Syd before we depart. We are in J so no confirmed phone call the day before. But do P1’s get a call for a possible spa booking? We do have a couple of hours in the lounge before we head off so we can always try on arrival but conscious there are a few QF and OW flights around our dept time. V first world problem…

- with Master Chooms travelling with us for the first time, should we try and get a private room in the F lounge? He will make lots of friends in the lounge but conscious this will quickly wear thin so thinking out of courtesy. How are these allocated? Is it just a desk and chair or are there lounges in the rooms.

Thanks in advance and any other advice te travelling with toddler is appreciated!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have not received a call or offer for spa or anything as P1 not in F prior to checking in. That was pre-covid though.

For the spa you’ll need to ask on arrival at the lounge. Pre booking is available only to F pax, then available slots are filled on the day on a first in basis, regardless of status.

For booking a room these can also be requested on the day. They’re fitted out with an office desk, but also sitting chairs/lounges. I’ve heard anecdotal reports that they’re sometimes reserved for CL on request and some other VIPs. But generally if they’re available when you arrive you should be able to request one.

There is no pre-booking the Spa for P1. It’s operating very limited hours on skeleton staff just now anyway.

When our kids are traveling I always ring up the week before and reserve one of the private rooms at SYD F.
Much less stress/ hassle and they deliver food and drinks to the suite.

You can pre-book a room in the lounge (contact either the lounge or vip team to arrange). But I was only offered 2 hours for an upcoming long transit. Pre covid I was able to book for the entire transit.

I was recently offered a spa session as a P1 upon arrival but declined - the lounge was quiet after QF11 had boarded around 9:30am hence the offer I assume.

I'd absolutely give the P1 team a call a day or so before and see what they can do for you.

I've never received pre arrival perks as P1 but only as F (as previously noted). In the SYD First lounge I have several times been the recipient of birthday or anniversary cake unannounced but there is a separate thread....
