Pan American - Elmhurst NY - anyone been there?

Just wondering if anyone has stayed at the Pan American Hotel, Queens Blvd, Elmhurst NY? Sounds OK, most of the TripAdvisor reviews are good except for the most recent one but the person just sounds cranky. Close to bus/train - we don't want to be driving around NYC and paying for parking. Hotel has free parking - apparently a rarity in NYC.
