Parents - what do you do with your kid's FF points?

As I don't have kids I don't do anything with them, but with my wife's points as she doesn't fly very often I transfer them to my account every now and then to ensure they don't expire, it is also easier to have them all in one account.

I, too, shamelessly harvest my kids points.

Afterall, if I were to leave them in the little rugrats accounts, they might fall foul of the "nil activity" rule and be wiped.

Much better they boost my balance, to get Mrs Jukebox and I our J/280K Oneworld awards sooner...

Note that family transfers don't count as activity, but if you transfer all of them then it's not such a problem, as there's nothing to expire.

no kids yet but I shamelessly take the points from my parents :D

My parents are in the MPC scheme, as based in HK. But when they fly cheap QF flights they now credit to QF, and I have occasionally had a helping hand with points from them. Same from sister. Though she'll be getting my PG soon enough ;)

Our kids have QF, VA and AA accounts.

I transfer the points accrued in their QF accounts every year - has been helpful for JASA's.

Have Family Pooling activated on both kids' VA accounts - both SC's and points.

Have maintained the balances in AAccounts. We use points from their accounts for trips.

Thanks for the ideas.

I guess many members here may be horrified (or their eyes may light up with glee) as Little Miss currently has 173k points. Actually more than her Dad. But I've used his account to request an UG for them from LAX later in the year. Might get her to pay him back this time if they get the UG. (Am presuming that if I request it when not travelling with them -PS and NB - it bears no clout).

You forgot to ask what we did with our parents-in-laws' points/SC's :D ;)

Mine got me to book PE on VS to UK for her layer this year. I also paid for her ticket - yes, she is reimbursing me ;)

I will also Family Pool her flights :D (the SC's will be nice towards Plat requal)

At the moment nighting but will use them for a trip or two for herself maybe later.

We paid for the tickets, the points were ours.... Having said that I usually used them for award flights for domestic travel in Australia for the family, so technically they were being used for them..... Little bit more difficult now they are adults. E.g. We took Master FM and partner to Cairns for the long weekend in June in J. I haven't taken those points and probably won't, but when they were under 18 definitely felt they were "my" points.

Miss 11 has had her points raided at regular intervals with an EDR transaction every so often to keep them alive. The little QF bonus associated with QF67/68 being deleted will come in handy with the Y/J ASAs we have in a few months. Upon our return those points will find their way into my account as well. Mrs 11's will probably do the same!! :p

Toddler G is 3 and she just received her first QFF Silver pack this week (much to Mrs G's chagrin who flew all the same sectors but missed out and stays NB due to anniversary dates.)

She is thrilled to have the silver Q tag on her Peppa Pig roller bag and her own "ticket".

We joined her up to QFF at 2 weeks via an EDR account. Her points balance is about 30k. The original idea was to accrue points so she can take a trip somewhere at 18, after I read about someone else doing this here on AFF. Yes, its probably naive to think this will actually happen due to devaluation of points, potential demise of QF schemes etc, but I like to hold onto the vision.

Toddler G is also a VA FF and pools to me but we tend to fly QF. Baby G is 9 months and a QFF member, but although she's a veteran of 2 long hauls to Europe she's been freeloading in the bassinet and doesn't have any points yet.

I haven't had to take any of this particular candy from my babies yet - but I will if we need the points for upgrades on a family trip.

My son is a 9 year old WP, so you can bet your life I steal his points! ;)

The three of us mostly fly together, myself, partner and son. He is 5 and been platinum with VA for 2 years now. We share points and SC through family pooling and adjust recipient as required. Once one of us renews Platinum points and SC to the next. We fly (as a family) over 2500 SC per year and have renewals stacked chronologically so can spread it out. Works well. Spend points on flights as needed but mostly as a family unit on overseas flights.

In a heart beat. Have already used once, and will again.
Both hubby and daughter would have no idea what their account number/password # of points was.

Am I the only one that is horrified by & totally jealous of this thread because I didn't set foot on a jet plane until the age of 20? LOL.

I thought I was bad - 16 was my first flight. However I have spent the next 45 years making up for it.

I use the daughters and my partners points, without guilt, as I pay for all the flights. Of course it would be different if a company paid for them.

unless you can select your parents before birth, this is the case, and you still beat me to the plane, utill my early 20's I thought that all families simply travelled for 8 hours in the car to a rental caravan on the coast, my 2 year old just saw the tour de france for the first time, it took me nearly 50 years,
