Partner Status Renewal

Yes, that did happen, speaking from personal experience as well. I originally posted that the terms allowed companion Gold once you hit 500 SC's after becoming Plat, when companion membership was first introduced. A few people benefited from this, some were denied and after some debate in the forum Virgin eventually updated the terms to what they are now.

In the year you upgrade from Gold to Platinum, there has been evidence that they give you the companion gold after 500 status credits (i.e at 1500 in the one year) which is before the 800 required for renewal.

(I speak from personal experience ;) )

Yes;

20.3.3 When a Platinum Member earns 1,000 Status Credits over and above the required number of Status Credits to maintain their Platinum Membership Level (800 Status Credits) within their Benefit Period (total 1,800 Status Credits), their nominated Companion Gold Member will automatically be upgraded to Platinum Membership (Companion Platinum Membership). If the Platinum Member hasn’t previously nominated a Companion Gold Member, then they are entitled to nominate a Companion Platinum Member.

And if one is offered and accepts partner gold then goes on to gain enough for partner plat, can that same partner be upgraded from gold to plat (I'm assuming so).
