Passenger “Gone Crazy on QF46”

It would have been terrifying for passengers and likely lots of kids onboard. I'm guessing no one who was in that plane would have had any issues with how it was treated. Likely there were no spare seats to have him seated with a Qantas crew member safely. A still shot of a knee in the back is not in context. Given there was no pillow on that still it is likely very early on in his 'capture'. There's also a gent in white shirt trying to stroke his back to pacify. I think Qantas did good.

I have questions, one of which is why not divert in this situation?
On the other hand, why divert? There's no danger to the aircraft.
Recognising the news coverage may be inaccurate, restraining someone prone for “several hours” doesn’t strike me as ideal
He wouldn't have been. He'd be cuffed, and then they'd use multiple people to move him to a seat. They'd use the normal belt, and some of the extension straps to securely keep him there.

You can't leave him in the aisle, the bar/food cart wouldn't be able to get over him.

Good to see someone who knows what they are talking about on here 😀

No according to the news reports liked in thread, and multiple "experts" replying to @nancypants

Yep indeed, @jb747 and @nancypants both seem to know what they're talking about. Not sure how to resolve all the others in thread telling them they're wrong...
