I feel my IQ has dropped from reading the articleIt's the Daily Mail - they sensationalise banality, make stuff up, plagiarise content or somehow combine any or all of the above.

InfluencersTikTok and Instagramers / influencers - two of the biggest wastes of oxygen on the planet - banish them to all to the moon and it would probably solve our CO2/climate problem!

In London they've set up two (non functional) British telephone boxes that are in direct alignment with the sparkly refurbished and beautiful Big Ben. The line ups at both are insane. I'm afraid I have my 'look' on my face as I walked past the silly performance antics they make as they are being filmed. They look ridiculous. Gazing into the distance. Pouty lips. Hilarious. And Instagrammers. Here in Japan they are everywhere. Stand in the best spot for a selfie then take 100 and/or a video thus preventing access for others. I have no hesitation in just walking in and getting my picture. Occasionally told to move but my reply usually is along the lines of No it's your time to move.

Haha, it's funny as I'm in that age bracket (early 30s) and fortunately haven't been infected by the virus (and I hope never, too).Absolutely agree with your view points. Not just kids, but also adults. Most of my adult friends (in their early-mid 30's) are hooked on to TikTok and making "reels" ... and the irritating thing is they want you to be part of a reel - no, thank you!
And the content of these reels are neither informative, not educational, not valuable in any form or shape - the content, most times, revolves around a new-trendy dance move or a cinema dialog or a bit of a song, that they think, they are dedicating to their partner or gf/bf and I'm like "dude, just tell your partner what you think, no need to make a reel and broadcast to the whole world, no one cares about how much you like your +1" ...
And add to that the issues caused by Covid isolation and which contributed to the boom of useless influencers and tikker tokkers as there was no other means of communicating with each other on a large scale.Haha, it's funny as I'm in that age bracket (early 30s) and fortunately haven't been infected by the virus (and I hope never, too).
You're 100% correct, the content is neither informative nor useful in the slightest. They don't know how silly they actually look.
I'm a high school maths teacher and to see the brain rot caused by this cough, steadily, over the past 10 or so years, is absolutely gobsmacking. I could write a damn book about it.
Anyway, the only happiness I derive from it is that all these people who indulge in fruitless endeavours such as this stuff will never be smart enough or hard working enough to be worthy competitors to us in the award travel space, hence better availability for us all who haven't succumbed yet.
Maybe. Who knows.
Sorry for the rant.
The big problem is, for the popular ones, they really work - products they mention sell out, they’re making hundreds of thousands. It’s madness and if you’re a kid, why work when you can just do that. And add to that the issues caused by Covid isolation and which contributed to the boom of useless influencers and tikker tokkers as there was no other means of communicating with each other on a large scale.
Sensible interest rates and an end to easy credit might be worth a try as a fix over the long term... far too much of the me, me, me, now, now, now going around. Get folk back to working to build solid, real foundations for their future. I don't think the younger generation will revert back to that way of thinking again and with the crazy cost of housing, and interest rates, well, who could blame them? The world is suffering long covid but not in the way usually considered.Sensible interest rates and an end to easy credit might be worth a try as a fix over the long term... far too much of the me, me, me, now, now, now going around.
