I'm travelling on QF793 (DRW - PER) tomorrow (Fri 23 June). From the booking site, it appears ecconomy seaets are completely sold out, with only business class available.

Not having access to the actual figures, could somebody tell me how likely it is to be operationally upgraded? I'm QC silver.

One J seat left, not looking good. Last year had full Y on DRW CNS and got upgraded as a WP to an empty J cabin, it was a comfotable but lonely trip and somewhat embarassing with the boss down the back! Same thing happened to me on QF51 on Monday to SIN, gave the boss my noise cancelling headphones as compensation and he then got a suite at the hotel versus my dogbox, must be karma!

Operational upgrades are likely to be given to CL members first, then Plat, then Gold, then you and other Silver members...

I wouldn't be expecting one anytime soon...

Well no upgrade but I was given an exit row. I rang Qantas Darwin this morning (about 5:30am) to see if I could check in when I finished work (at 6am) and she checked me in over the phone. Also said she would have upgraded me but business class is sold out. Gave me an exit row instead.

Funny because when I rang up the main Qantas line last night they told me I wasn't allowed to check in that early and it was not possible - yet Qantas Darwin had absolutely no problems.

There are plenty of stories at work of people getting upgraded after calling the ops number. (For those that don't know I'm an Air Traffic Controller at Darwin). I guess it's sort of an occupational bonus.

I'm just happy I'm already checked in with an exit row seat - now I can go to bed after working all night and not stress out about getting to the airport early.

I picked up my boarding pass on the way home. It's an odd feeling - because for me it's the night before and I already have a boarding pass. I haven't even started packing yet!
