Passengers off loaded

That was the last offer that was made public by EmilyP, which IIRC was a combination of a travel voucher and some miles. There may have been a further offer after that as EmilyP's parents were looking for some consumer affairs advice, but we weren't informed.
Should you be quoting the numbers as fact then when we don't really know the final outcome?

An interesting thread IMHO with those with practical experience largely on one side of the fence and those working from a theoretical perspective on the other.

Guess which way works folks:?: (Doesn't mean it's perfect)

QF stated it's policy with regard to refunds was to be found in an off-line table... that gave a figure of $700. EmilyP's parents then embarked on a lengthy road of back and forth to try and get a better outcome, eventually being offered the $1250. Now they may have ended up with more, after another battle (or going via consumer affairs), but it's probably not unreasonable to assume that most people, without the benefit and support of AFF, might have given up well before the $1250 offer.

Other bulletin boards confirm similar stories of downgrades without fair and reasonable compensation. And IIRC in those cases the offer wasn't upped from the original 'table'.

Providing details of the process, and the latest offer is useful for others in a similar situation.

Qantas is free - at any time - to explain how refunds are calculated (they have so far been reluctant to do so). They are also free to amend their table to reflect a reasonable compensation level (but are reluctant to do so).
