New passport posted today, 17 days after lodgement.
Previous passport lasted less then 3 years.
Stitching coming loose, didn't want to chance any dramas when travelling.

My kid lodged his adult passport today

A friend lodged his on 30th April 2024 - two weeks later and no news -given experience of others it won’t show up for at least 4 weeks plus delivery time

After a week of travelling (maybe to do with staying in dry AC room), mine is now flat. But I imagine it will revert back

Good news! With the Budget, you can now pay only $100 extra to have your passport processed in 5 business days - on top of the ~$375 base fee from 1 July, as an alternative to the $237 fee for 2 day turnaround.

Great that it's coming back. What $237 fee? The express service doesn't exist anymore. Or have they made that only available when renewing / applying in Australia?

Certainly from the UK, the express service I used a few years back, no longer exists and the only option is the rubbish emergency passport.

I was being a bit facetious - that they've introduced a new 'priority' service. A gouge to fit every timeframe! I imagine its only for passport centres in Australia.

FWIW, I just recently renewed my UK passport, and it was two weeks, door to door, turnaround. Lodged it with AP on a Monday morning, it was tracked and delivered to the UK passport office the following Monday, processed and printed that Tuesday, dispatched on the Wednesday, arrived by DHL the following Monday morning, and the old one returned separately on the Wednesday. (Have to be in to receive and sign for both). Back in black with His Majesty!

Friends passport showed up on 27th May
That’s a 4 week turn around

I reached out via e-mail and had a response:
Thank you for that information. We are still waiting for a response from the specialist team in Australia so until that happens you can continue to use your existing passport. Once we receive a response we will contact you to advise of your options.

So, essentially I'm still on a "can't book travel more than 30 days out". I'm going to Madagascar next week, as I have little choice in that trip but after that I'm just not going to travel at all for some time now, especially after what happened earlier this week.

To me it reads like blank application forms for a new passport (not a renewal) are available at AusPost, but not forms for renewing passports.

I’m going to be stuck renewing between trips. Get back Sunday night and leave Thursday morning.

Has anyone used the priority service recently and picked the passport up from the office? (It’s near central in Sydney). Guessing I can lodge the application at a “rapid” post office Monday morning and it should be ready on Wednesday.
