Seems to reinforce my suspicion that "E" means 67-page.

I found this out from the US Govt pages on ESTA - the new P series passport has two letters, and this indicates the type.

PA Regular Passports

PB Regular Passports

PD Diplomatic Passport

PE Official Passport

PF Frequent Traveller Passport (extended pages)

The following "P" series documents will not be able to submit an ESTA travel approval.

PC Certificate of identity

PU Titre de Voyage

PW Document of Identity

PX Emergency Passport

PZ Document of Identity

I only realised last night thumbing through my three year old passport that I didn't have a single stamp in it. I'm sure I've been out of the country at least a few times in that time.

I've filled up about a third of my passport which was issued in March 2013 and foolishly I didn't pay the extra for the larger travellers passport last year, definitely should have done that.

And not sure what the issue is with some airports, do they sometimes stamp it and sometimes not ? I can't remember where I was but the immigration spent ages looking for my entry stamp and couldn't find it and said that I should have had my passport stamped when I entered the country. Quite possibly could have been the UAE when I entered from DXB and exited AUH did that a few times this year.

I loved interesting stamps, and was ¨proud¨ of my Machu Picchu stamp, but then I managed to wash said passport.

I like the history, but the technology is way past its use-by date.

May I ask how long ago you got the Machu Picchu stamp? I just missed out on getting there TWICE this year, due to South Americas ridiculous hub system! Is it a pretty stamp or more of an achievement stamp?

I went there in 2010. I actually got both stamps - the Machu Picchu one for entrance to the main área, and also the Huayna Picchu stamp, which you get if you manage to climb the second peak there. The stamps were basic but pretty. I loved them mainly because was childhood dream to get there :)

Disagree, the technology provides me with a pretty good list of / evidence of when I've been in certain countries without needing to do anything beyond flipping through the pages of my passport. Take for example New Zealand, I've got no idea the dates of most of my trips, since I've never been given a stamp, and yet I know the exact dates of arrival for every time I've been to the USA. I don't need to go to a website and obtain a log on or prove my identity, I'm not at risk of a person attempting to pretend they are me to such websites.

There are times when you do need your overseas travel history (any job which involves any sort of security clearance or background checks will typically ask for your travel history). Having a nice little booklet stating exactly when you traveled sure helps filling in those forms.

Me too, devastated I travelled to the other side of the world and couldn't pull it of twice! Thanks for letting me know about the Huayna Picchu, may give me more motivation :-)

They're much prettier now JohnK. At least the one issued in ADL - ugly rubber stamp version has been replaced with a nice adhesive one. Still fills an entire page, but at least it's now classier. :D

Our Au passports are expensive yes, but worst thing is Au Govt is not stamping our passports, also Au visas for visitors to cone and bond with us are now paperless too.
Our Au passports should cost less, seeing we are saving our "employees" the Au Govt $.
Even Smartgate is saving the Au Govt $!

I guess I am lucky that as a South Australian I have never needed a visa when arriving in Adelaide. Keeps the riffraff out, I suppose.

I have the feeling that USD50 note "inadvertently" left in her passport during immigration check in the bus would have solved everything...

...which might automatically get you detained and in an even worse situation.

I agree in theory, but this guy would have to be the most overzealous immigration officer in Mexico. Trying to put an end to waves of Australian illegal immigration in his country...
