Pausing Qantas Club if Solely Taking Business Class Flights?

Qantas Club is a membership, and part of it includes Qantas Club Lounge access. Sure there's overlap on benefits, but a business class ticket and Qantas club membership are fundamentally very different products with different priveledges.

QF Gold pause scenario is different because Gold includes 'Qantas Club membership' which is 100% overlap to paid QC.

OTT, I think I have 3 years of QP membership on pause. I recently requested a refund. To those who received a refund under similar circumstances, please advise how long did it took?

Thanks in advance.

when I requested mine after attaining LTG it took about 5 weeks. There was no trouble with me giving them a credit card to put it on - it had been on hold for ages and I had no idea what I had used to pay for it. They were very helpful.

Yep, pretty much same here. I was actually asked to provide the number of a credit card I'd used to book a QF flight, which seemed like reasonable lateral thinking to me.

This reminds me of a couple of years ago, I purchased QP as I do every year (until recently - thank you DSC promotions ), and I ended up flying some J flights to the point that it actually pushed the cost of my QP down below my "worth it" threshold.

Did I mind that I didn’t effectively use QP? Not at all because let’s face it, I was flying J. I still had access to the lounge, and I got a much better seat out of the deal.

How can you tell how many years/months of paused QP membership you have left? I can't seem to find that info anywhere and don't recall ever being advised that it had been paused since attaining (and retaining) SG.

I don't think you can on line. You can estimate it by taking the joining month/anniversary month for QC, subtracting the month you became gold or higher.

If you call the QFFF service centre they can work it out for you pretty quickly.

I guesstimated mine and then let them work it out. I don't believe that you can find it anywhere. When you first attained SG, the letter you received should have said it had been put on hold. You should have an idea of when you first bought the membership and when you first attained gold and roughly work it out from that.

Sorry for the late response but appreciate your replies. You're quite right, the letter I received stated:

Your paid membership will be reactivated when your complimentary one expires.

so all good.

To clarify regarding Gold (and higher status)

- QF do not "give you QC membership" when you attain Gold status, they provide access to the lounge as part of that status package (this is different to the benefits of a QC membership). It is in line with their alliance partners (ie: Onwworld) providing the same benefit for similar status elites in QF lounges

It definitely used to be stated that Gold came with complimentary QC membership.

yes I remember that too.

Anyway semantics aside.... wanting a pause in paid QC membership (and for under 2 months at that) is a fine idea and good luck but... nope :) good try tho and entertaining thread

I couldn't find the "complimentary Qantas Club membership" in the T&C, but it was actually written in the last email I got about soon reaching LTG:

When you earn 14,000 Status Credits you'll receive Lifetime Gold membership^ which means you could enjoy the privileges of Gold status every time you fly including:

75% more Qantas Points on eligible Qantas, Jetstar and American Airlines® flights~

Complimentary Qantas Club membership± and access to over 600 oneworld airline lounges including Emirates lounges around the world when travelling on eligible flights

Preferential access to Qantas Classic Flight Rewards†

Higher priority for international Classic Upgrade Rewards‡

Priority checked baggage, check in and boarding where available for Qantas flightsΔ, oneworld Sapphire privileges on eligible flights with oneworld airlines and more.
