My last Aaward was done 6 days ago.I put in my CC Australian billing address and put the 0 in front of the postcode. No problems.
Proviso-putting the zero in front of your postcode only works if the new 5 digit number is a legitimate US zip code.google yours first before trying.
Mine comes up as a village in Maine.
my postcode is not a legitimate post code in the US it seems :(

For those who want to check: Postal Codes United States

Yes - I think this is the key.....

I did one the other day too - I just stick with setting the Country as AU and using the Address 2 line for City and Postcode, leaving the official Zip field blank - works just as well IME.

nate89 - when booking with an AAgent - I just use my US PO box address, but just search El Segundo on this forum and you will get the idea ;)

Booking online - I've only had one payment failure and that was right after they implemented Australian payment on the US site - since then....all good.

Oh good so its all straightened out then :), which approach for what situation!

Question: the CC used to pay for the tax, is it possible to use a CC which is a different name to the name on the account? or it has to be identical? and proof of Cc must be produced on the day?

Thanks guys :)

Just thought I would update - I am on my final legs of my trip and just paid for an exit row seat on my amex. It worked fine this time by putting a zero in front of my postcode - despite my postcode not being a postcode in the US.

I made an AAdvantage award booking last night via the USA EXP phone number. I gave my Aussie Amex card details and instructed the agent to add a leading zero to my Aussie post code. She had no problems with the system accepting my credit card details. But its not yet issued - shows as "On Request". Miles have been deducted from my AAdvantage account. Also note that my Aussie Postcode with a leading zero does match a valid USA postcode (from Maine like drron).

Did the same thing two days ago with the zero at the end, my post code is then a legitimate postcode in VA. I cannot use the Exp desk so this was a regular non-premium Agent.
She was initially very confused about the Aussie cellphone number but it all worked out in the end :D
E-tickets arrived in my inbox ~ 12hrs later :)

Just noticed my post code is in fact a postcode for Providence, Rhode Island with a prefix of 0.

I don't know too much about CC transactions in the US but I suspect that almost none ( if any) of the billing address is cross-referenced to the card at time of booking.

My tickets have been issued and taxes/charges now showing on my Aussie Amex Credit Card statement. All done via the USA EXP phone number and using a leading zero on the postcode for the billing address. Took about 48 hours for the tickets to change from "On Request" to "Ticketed" and a few more days before the transaction showed on my Amex statement, though the transaction is dated the same day as the tickets were issued.
