Hmm, I think not, unsure if to go looking in the area or just pack a picnic for our room but not much chance of the 4 of us paying $1500 for a fairly average meal!

Exactly my thoughts. I'm sure the wife and I will be able to find something a little cheaper! I don't feel like spending 4x the amount on dinner as the whole accommodation.

To all involved, I strongly recommend you BYO food if you're not prepared to go out for dinner on NYE.

Things you can eat cold or at room temperature are ideal - sushi, sandwiches, salads, etc.

I'm not sure about security cracking down on food. They may do so on alcohol and/or glass, but I recommend you "stock up" on 30/12, not NYE when it'll be a bit more crazy. And of course, you should always clean up after yourselves.

Packing a cooler bag with stuff into a standard rollerboard or luggage would be an idea.

Where did you find this, not on my email. I'll probably bring it in early anyway but unsure that they can really force you to eat their own food and then say food options are severely limited.

Per night though yes? I got offered that all well but figured we won't be spending *that* much time in our room...

yes at present Im only there one night for 25000 pts and they offered that $250 far too rich for me!
would have liked the 3 nts but did not ache enough at the time
unless anyone has a booking they don't need I can return the pts.

my letter did not state that at all!
and I very much doubt they can tell you what you can bring into the hotel in the way of alcohol and food to be consumed in the room.
up on the roof is another thing!
last year we were at the hyatt and they carried a huge esky wheely into the room for us. ice was sloshing around everywhere and they said nothing!

'ache' enough? You mean 'have', right? I never knew that you needed to suffer so much to get the holiday you wanted :mrgreen:

I've actually got two reservations covering c/in 29/12 c/out 1/1. Not sure why I booked two of them... guess when I did when the glitch was on, it was a bit too good to pass up. That said, I'm probably going to have to cancel them soon and get the points back, because I won't be heading to Sydney for NYE this year.

That was my understanding. From my email:

We have 3 King Harbour View rooms @ 250.00
We have 5 King Partial Opera View rooms @ $200.00
We have several water view rooms from $150.00

I made a three night 30K reward booking from 29th-1st which I was hoping to use.

Alas I cannot even though I am in SYD on the 31st.

I can cancel the award and be re-credited the 30K.

We communicated today, sadly I canceled my booking yesterday.

(Would have been charged rack rate for a no show)

The points were back in my account by the time the cancellation confirmation came up.

They now have two harbour view rooms. We upgraded one of our three. they charged 250 for NYE itself and much less for the other 2 nights.

We have kids in tow so it seemed like a good idea for NYE itself.

360 all up. 55 per night for the other two from memory.

I think a room with a view will allow the kids to enjoy the NYE fireworks without getting crushed to death and without having to fight for a spot.
