Peanut Butter

It was peanut paste in Queensland too. I always thought "peanut butter" came from the US, but maybe it was seeded in Victoria for us Aussies? Anyway I cringe when I hear "peanut butter". It has definitely always been "peanut paste" in our household...

Some states had issues with the name 'butter' due to the lack of dairy products in it.

Certainly I grew up in WA where it was 'peanut paste' till the 80's or so.

Geez, I got excited when i logged on that my really serious question had 20 responses but none of em answered my question!!:(
well that's it with all this interstate differences. I'm going to pack my cozzies into my port go to the pub and have a couple of middies before heading to newcarstle to eat a paastie!;)

I belive it's a Qantas policy in relation to peanut allergies.

They don't even serve peanuts on board anymore - that's F, J, W and Y.

Wow - have never ever heard the term before. Always been peanut butter...

I think its because us fellow countrymen from the Peoples Republic of Victoria are more savy in the ways of the world tuapekastar and call it what it is - peanut butter! ;)

Mr!

'tis my understanding as well. For Qantas someone having a reaction to peanuts in the air is more disruptive to the operations than someone at Macca's, so I guess it is Qantas interests to not be where the nuts come from.

Interestingly, MH do serve peanuts on board, although I guess someone with a peanut allergy in Malaysia would have problems avoiding them.

Whilst on QC - does anyone know if the paper towels have returned to BNE domestic yet?
I was told the block the dunnies but the last 5 QC's Ive been in dont seem to have a problem.
On a recent visit to the BNE Qantas Club, the toilets were in fact blocked with water (etc) overflowing from toilet bowls and flowing across the floor. The toilets were duly closed and guests had to leave the lounge to meet their personal biological relief requirements.

.... and all along I thought it was just the Queenslander's :!:

A quick bit of research tells me people in WA, SA and QLD used the term 'peanut paste' until at least the 1970s. As previously posted by someone, it was because of legislative requirements (i.e. not from a cow, not butter). Glad to see more sensible states knew what it was called. :p;)

Seems like everyone has to suffer so a few people who should know better don't get sick.

Interestingly, though unrelated, was listening to au audio channel on QF today and they f..ing this a f...ing that and motherf...er and that's perfectly acceptable... even though a child could inadvertently listen to it by just changing channels. But adults can't have peanuts.

That is most unfortunate! Having "unfortunately!" worked in the sewerage business for many years me thinks that there is probably a pipe issue. Who or why would anyone take handtowel in the cubicle with them on such a regular basis that it would cause a problem?

BRING BACK BRISBANE'S HAND TOWELS!;)
