As we all like to plan ahead with big events, best to get this one on the radar now so we can gather interest & pencil in diary space now.

As mentioned at the last PER drinks night, I'm planning to hold the June drinks night over till July - upon which we propose to have a sit-down event a-la Christmas in July style.

The broad outlines of the proposed event are as follows:

  • Either on a Friday or Saturday night during July
  • Held at a central, good quality location
    • Be near good, accessible parking garages or walking distance to public transport/high turnover taxi rank
  • SWMBOs/MATHs (Man about the house, couldn't remember another acronym)/Significant others & out of towners are welcomed and encouraged to join us.
  • Cuisine undecided, could either be a traditional Christmas in July style fare, or something else.
  • Approximately 20-40 people at the event.
  • Set menu affair, with relevant dietary needs and requirements catered for wherever possible.
  • Either a secret santa is conducted or a collection for a local childrens charity taken on behalf of AFF

To gather everyone's interest in this event, I've put together a quick nine question survey so we can get all the information we need to plan the best event we can.

If you could please take 4-5 minutes of your day to complete the survey, we'd really appreciate it (as it'll save me boatloads of time by not having to go through umpteen forum posts to find a consensus).

The survey will run for two weeks from today, after which we'll publish a summary of the feedback and - depending on the results, commence planning in earnest.

Thanks in advance everyone, hope you're all as interested in having this event as I am and look forward to pulling it off.

Survey completed. I was planning to be in the US in mid July so would prefer either the first or last week of the month....

I might be interested - can cove please help me with a strategy to generate some pts to redeem a flt?

Noted, was aware of that date already.

The date for PER is definitely on one of the weekends in JULY, and I don't think it'll be in the first week of that month anyway based on data so far.

Completed survey - sounds like it should be fun.

Schedule is hard to pin down this far out unfortunately....

Responded. Probably unlike I'll be able to make it though as July is going to be a very busy month for me.

The only weekend that's a remote possibility is the first one (7/8).

- 14/15: In USA
- 21/22: In USA or recovering from jetlag.
- 28/29: In MEL

I do eat basically everything. I did note lactose intolerance, but that really only becomes an issue if I do something silly like have a milkshake :)

But having said all that, if like you mentioned the data so far indicates the first weekend is an unlikely candidate then I'll be a Bronze and hope you all enjoy the event!

I'll try to be there - Saturday works best for me, and the later in the month the better!

Survey completed. I'm generally pretty flexible and any time in July looks OK at this stage but marked earlier in the month as preferred.

We have an Olympic Games to attend later on in July and early August.
Other than that early July is clear.

I'm a silver, planning on being in France for most of July so it will depend on which weekend it is arranged for.

I'd say Silver. Would love to finally attend an AFF event in Perth.

I'm silver. Haven't completed the survey as I don't wish to influence anything if I aint going, and I cannot commit right now, but am quite keen if the ducks line up.

In light of the double SCs promos from both Virgin & Qantas are there any thoughts of having this in June :?:

(without clashing with the Gold Coast of course)

I'm silver as well... I am possibly heading over there last week in July...

Keep in mind too that school holidays in some states are late June/early July so sale fares will be scarce - may be okay for JASA's though.
