PER-HBA $150 J class!

I've a PER-MEL QF JASA booked for December. I'm thinking of cancelling it and booking this VA PER-xMEL-HBA and then no-showing for the final leg.

I'm a bit concerned about taking this risk.
There shouldn't be any problem with cancelling and refunding the JASA and I can't really see a problem with being a no-show (without luggage) for the VA flight but all in all it just seems as though there are too many variables that can go wrong.

Can anyone offer any reassurance before I go ahead?

If it was me, I wouldn't hesitate. I travel with hand luggage only all the time and have dropped JQ legs (the dom after an intl) with no problem at all.

The deal is still live guys, I'm seeing it through to the end of June next year. If you are wanting to book it, it can (and most likely will) be taken away any second.

I'm sure this has been asked.. And I've read the T&Cs, but still am not sure.. Are these completely refundable? As in, if I pay with points and $, will I get points and $ back?

The T&Cs are clear on $ only, points only, but not P+$.

Thanks guys.

Because they are Business, they are fully refundable, however with the last one I did I received more points and less $$$ apparently because the points level had changed.

How long does it take to get the refund? I am waiting on a refund for a flight that DJ cancelled, and while I have got various new itineraries sent to me, no $$$$ or points back as yet....

So I wonder if I booked this, then a month later cancelled it (once the 'error' has been corrected), would I get the full 'normal' points back? I.e. the 33,000 or so?!?

As I read it, that could be so but you'd get substantially less $$.

I'd happily give up $150 for 25 - 30,000 points.

Not to mention that, as a Gold paying with a VA Amex you earn something like 12 points for $ spent on VA which means you would get an extra 1,800 points each way!

The booking I cancelled was done on the old 6900 points level with a cash component of $190 - it was 5 weeks ago - the points came back fast but the refund has not arrived - thanks for reminding me.

Just booked one too but only planning on completing the PER-MEL leg with hand luggage. If it's an error, there hasn't been a correction yet.

Incredible.. It's still there..

This is one thing I really love about Virgin.. Clearly it's an error, yet they're keeping it there for us for a little while despite (undoubtedly) knowing about it from here.

Booked.

You seriously think they're leaving it out of charity to AFF?

Well, they seem to have had a go at correcting this. The 6900 points + $150 is no longer coming up. The correction isn't working properly though either. Be careful when booking though as pointed out by jazza1971 and serfty in this thread http://www.australianfrequentflyer....velocity-reward-flights-42658.html#post670584

The business class velocity booking is now 33800 + $35 or 40800 for PER-xMEL-HBA or vv. This still looks a pretty good deal as it's only $10 more than just PER-MEL.

I booked an additional return flight for the trip that I plan to cancel. It'll be interesting to see what I'm refunded. I paid 7800 and $300 for a return trip.

It seems fair that the glitch has been fixed now. The deal was live on this site for over a week - that was plenty of time for people to read about it and book it if they wanted to.

Please let me know what you are refunded.
I used one ticket that I purchased earlier this week with a No Show for the MEL-HBA leg. It allowed me to use The Lounge in both PER and MEL for the first time and, in fact, flew J class with Virgin for the first time.

I have to say that I was pretty impressed all round. The Lounge in Perth at 9:00am was pretty empty and nothing like the crazy house that QC would have been. I thought that the service/meal choices etc were better than QF and with only about 10 J class passengers aboard it was all very comfortable.

There was no problem at all being a no show for the second flight and they even said they'd look into a refund for me.....I knew there couldn't possibly be one.

For the other flight that I cancelled I simply got a refund on the points and $$ as paid for less a credit card charge.
