I have just booked QF from Perth to Heathrow for early next year.
Previously I used to fly to Singapore, and transfer to a premium economy seat there, and so the entire journey was an international one.
Because of the Qantas-Emirates deal we no longer have QF metal out of Perth, (and EK has no premium economy between Perth and Dubai - 12hrs flying) and so I now have to fly from Perth to Melbourne, and transfer to QF9 in Melbourne.
My journey has been done in a single booking on the Qantas website. I selected flights which allowed 2.5hrs for the domestic - international transfer.
I have just received an email from Qantas advising that my flight to Melbourne has now been changed to one which arrives an hour later than originally planned, thus only leaving me 90 mins to transfer. (and that's if the flight arrives on time!!!)
My concern is that this will not be sufficient time for me to do this. As the first leg of my journey is a domestic flight, I will not have cleared customs and immigration prior to leaving Perth, so I will have to do this in Melbourne. I also don't know whether I will have to collect and re-check my luggage prior to boarding my flight to London.
Can somebody enlighten me please, as this Qantas-Emirates tie-up is turning my much anticipated trip into a major headache.
I booked this trip on points. Once the rest of them are used up, any future international travel will be with another airline. Qantas service out of Perth is non-existent!

I often do a domestic leg prior to flying internationally, and an hour is plenty of time, even for Sydney with the bus transfer and customs. I've found it a much more pleasant experience, with a quick domestic check-in. The Qantas counter that checked my bag through was super quiet - I think she was excited to have human contact again, and gave me an exit row. Hopefully the rest of your experience is as pleasant.

90 mins at MEL should be fine. Your bags will be checked through already. And you should get your QF9 BP in PER, so no need to line up again for that. Ask for a departure card in PER too (if they don't give you one). The MEL INT terminal is next door to the DOM terminal (a few mins walk). So you should be able to walk directly to INT departures.

Thanks guys! That's a relief. It's frustrating enough having to go across to Melbourne to transfer (no offence to Victorians intended) rather than spending a pleasant few hours cruising around Changi airport. Missing my connecting flight would really top it off!!!

Since QF have done a schedule change you should be able to change it to an earlier flight ex-Perth if you do feel uncomfortable... at no additional charge

It doesn't say that they have changed the actual flight schedule. The email I received actually says "we wish to advise that your flight details have changed...."
I selected QF480, which leaves Perth at 7.15am and arrives in Melbourne at 12.55pm. They have actually switched me onto QF762 which leaves Perth at 8.15am and arrives at 13.55pm.
There's no explanation as to why.

Either way your schedule has changed so what I said applies

Did you book this a while back? If so, I'd say it's the switchover to daylight saving in the east that has caused it. They never seem to allow for DS way ahead IME.
