Normally it does not cost that much more to book a class that is elgible for mileage accrual. As an example the recent SYD-SIN sale airfares for Christmas are ~$1280 and it costs only an extra ~$80 to book a flight that is elegible for mileage accrual.

It is only on the 1am departures.

Tiger has a better time at 9:30pm.

Jetstar has a midnight flight.

both still cheaper than SQ - but no meals or entertainment, and Tiger goes to the low cost terminal.

Apparently SQ have released a package at the Excelsior for 3 nights for about $574pp - problem is that one night is for the early arrival.

I was curious, but you have to leave on Thursday morning to make it a weekend and the dates I checked had a monday return, making it a very long weekend. (Not that there's anything wrong with that!)

Works for me! Ex SIN has been my preferred choice for 3 years now!

Im happy to spend the $$$ to stay clarkes quay - swiss or novotel, after all, there wouldn't be much time to enjoy the Excelsior would there... between PUMP and other "venues" which are guaranteed to keep you up till the wee hours!
