PER-SIN to return from June.

Not too bad if the domestic side opens at 4.30, but any later and pax could be waiting around for the doors to open.

Do QFi and QFd now use the same terminal in PER?

Otherwise I can't see how it would be physically possible to get through immigration and customs catch the bus and be at domestic at 4:30am, after landing at 4:15 am...

In any event QP opens at 4:15 am ... assume checkin opens before that.

Strange, could only see QF78 at the moment (in a 737-800)... presume QF77 yet to be uploaded...

But still a Fri, Sun and Mon departure suggests largely catering for leisure crowd. Shocking 4.15am arrival time...:(

That's what I was thinking. What time does PERd open for any onward connections? 5am?
I've done the PER connection a few times. Domestic opens 4:00am from memory. Most East Coast flights ~6:00am.

I'll reconsider this connection if A330 or 787 are used. Late night departure ex SIN would be most suitable as the feeder traffic has plenty of time to connect and early arrival into SIN helps with onwards connections. Can't please everyone.

I was thinking if the terminal didn't open at 4.30 it would be 5am, which could leave people standing around.

But as you point out the QP is open at 4.15, so not an issue. :)

The shuttle bus runs every half hour from T1 to T4. And with a 4.15 arrival, it's extremely unlikely any pax would make the 4.30 shuttle. Most likely scenario is that they'll have to hang out at the bus stop till 5am, and arriving at T4 at 5.15. For 6.00 departures, they've worked it out just nicely that any connecting pax won't have time to use the lounge.

Haha, you haven't seen me in action then! :)

I don't doubt your awesome skills but have you actually encountered Border Farce at PER T1?
After passport control and baggage collection every single passenger has to queue up to have their disembarkation card scrutinised by ONE OFFICER who does triage and directs them to either pass straight through or have their luggage searched.
It's a joke.

I must have an honest face then since the last 4 or 5 (over several years) I essentially have been waved through. I have seen a second officer pulling a few passengers, they mostly get secondary of one sore or another.
OTOH it does help if you don't come in on the third wide body in the last half an hour. But that's true of MEL and SYD as well.

Happy wandering

Fred

I don't go through PER very much but never encountered such delays. It's similar in other ports as well, I'm now quite used to getting landside within 20 minutes in SYD.

I remember this one time in PER this young lass must have had aspirations of becoming the director of customs in 12 months time. She was convinced I was the person that would get her up the ladder. She went through every single one of my belongings with a fine tooth comb and was disappointed she didn't find anything. I showed tremendous restraint but my dry sense of humour doesn't escape me in these situations. I can give as good as I get especially when I am right. I have little respect for low lifes like her who make judgements about people going to a destination. I regret not sending a stern letter to her superiors.

The rest of the time the plan was to get through immigration in PER as slowly as possible to pass the time but each time I was through in <30 minutes and either waut for transfer bus to start operating get taxi to domestic.

Similar experiences to Sean.

Once there was 2 officers at either end. Bear in mind he is talking about just prior to the exit/actual checking benches where everyone is funnelled into a queue.

Not normally an issues if HLO but once the bulk of luggage comes out or if you are on the second plane it can be ridiculously slow.

The night arrivals are the worst I reckon, days seem to be spaced a little better.

On my last trip through PER Intl I was off the plane, delayed in getting off due to Medical issues, through passport control, collected baggage and out the door in less that 10 minutes.

Leaving Perth I was through check-in, immigration and security etc and in the lounge having a glass of champagne in less than 5 minutes. I just put it down to not travelling with kids, perhaps is was jut lucky though.

And early evening when the EK A380 lands, qatars 777, MH's 330, NZs 789 + the budget smaller planes it's a zoo!

The international terminal has had some major improvements in the past few months. Sadly, this pathetic single lane exit has not been one of them.

Yes its a go slow they want more bread so punishing the public to get it always at a peak time. I was in line for near an hour, old people one guy hobbling on strapped leg they didn't give a stuff. Guy in front of us sure gave the boss a big serve on way out.

 What date was this?

The EK and QR flights are scheduled to be an hour apart. Although, for today, the EK flight is delayed by 20 mins, while the QR flight is 25 mins early. After that, there is normally almost an hour before the AirAsia flight arrives from DPS as well, but that one is 55 mins early today.

And then, in a 2.5 hours period later in the evening, there are 2x 737, 2x A320, 3x A330, and 1x 787 international arrivals. Guess where QF72 comes in?
