Previet,
Returning to my Russian bolt hole for the summer and have bookings out of PER on June 12 QF to NRT. Looking for advice on good seat options, and if anyone knows what actual aircraft that should be?

Onward to HEL June 17 with Finnair AY 074, connecting to their newish route into Ekaterinburg (SVX) June 18, AY 151.

Coming back out Aug 3 SVX-HEL (AY 151)-HKG (AY 067)

I realize no-one has probably done the SVX leg, but does anyone have recent experience of the Finnair flights NRT-HEL, and HEL-HKG? Any thoughts, recomendations re seat, meals etc?

Finally back into BNE on QF 98 on Aug 5. Again any thoughts or hints greatfully recieved.

I'm QF silver, so happy to be earning points and SCs, but man I never cried so much as the day BMI left OneWorld. That was my favourite way home!:(

HEL is a lovely airport to transit through - a shame you are not GOLD as you could use the Finnair lounges.

A word of warning if you are travelling in economy on this Finnair flight - avoid Cathay as you will not earn any points or status credits (or anything for that matter) if you are flying Cathay Pacific.

[Note to others if you are on a Finnair business class flight, you are fine connecting on Cathay - you do earn points, status credits etc]

In my experience PER-NRT will be a 767-300, get 24F if you can as there is no 23F in front of it. A very comfortable seat.

Love to have a quick review of the HEL-SVX leg when your back. Interested to do it myself one day. Apparently it on an E90 normally.

While have flown none of these specific flights, NRT-HEL and HEL-HGK are both on an A340, which is the standard 2-2-2 in J and 2-4-2 in whY (Just like a Qantas A330), i have flown on there A340's before from PVG and found them to be much like any other airline, much like QF i guess is my best description. Food with AY can be a hit and miss, just depends what you like but on my flights has been fine. They have an interesting glass to serve wine in J.

Service is not as friendly as QF or anything at all like Asia carriers but if you used to European service its as expected.
