Hi all, going PER to SYD in July (a route I haven't travelled before) and will likely be on QF568 on either an early sat morning or early sunday morning. The Sat service is on an A330; the Sunday on B737.

Given the hour of the flight I'd like to use points to upgrade, but am wondering what the business seat options are like on these services. Am assuming it isn't lie-flat (following the removal of the 747s from this route??).

Any advice greatly appreciated!

I see...so I should try to avoid the Sunday am service then in terms of the 737 not having a lie-flat?

At this stage it looks like the last Saturday of the month has a A333 penciled in. A333 = 5 rows of lie flats up the front. The 3 other Saturday flights in July have A332 aircraft in domestic config (no lie flat). This can certainly change in the future.

There are some A332 international configs (split cabin) floating around domestically but these seem mostly on PER - MEL flights. Both types of A332 have 6 rows in business but the A332 with the Mark1 business seats have the exits row on row 45 in economy where with the domestic version, the exit row is in row 44 . This is what I use to quickly tell the difference.

Thanks for that - really appreciate the info. At this stage looking like flying on Sat 13th...so most likely a 332.

Having just done this flight on an A332 the flying time was about 3 hours 45 minutes with the strong tailwind. If you want to catch up on 2 movies you can start the first one before lift off and there will be a couple of announcements interrupting your first movie plus cabin service.
Picking the return flight at 5 hours plus is the more important one to select.

I agree with cove.

In July, the winds will be even stronger, so the trip to Sydney will be even quicker.

The flight back to Perth is the MUST to upgrade, as this will be significantly longer.
