As a semi frequent user does anyone know why they operate both terminals over the weekend ?

Looking at the number of flights they could all operate solely from T1 Dom. It would be cost saving for all for sure and the lounge would be available as T2 is closed on weekends.

The terminals are run by Perth Airport so there are no savings for VA. Saturday would be the only day it would fit. Sunday is a normal busy day.

Could you imagine saying to people on Saturdays all flights are terminal 1? It's hard enough with the recent change over. Nobody likes reading itinerarys these days or even better during the changeover if you booked through a travel agent they don't pass on the new itinerary with your new terminal.

Happy days!

Isn't T1 at PER totally international flights only, and T2 only VA flights, and as far as I know, VA don't fly any international flights from/to PER.
Unless I have missed something, ...

You've missed something.
T2 is the Virgin Regional Terminal which has been operating for some time.
T1 is the Interntaional Terminal which now has a new pier which is the Virgin Domestic Terminal.
Physically it is attached to T1 at the end nearest to T2, and connected to it by a walkway.
All Virgin interstate flights leave from their pier in T1.

The smaller turboprops for VA go from terminal 2 and some of the gates are still further away from T1.
The jets seem to go from T1 domestic. Eg A330 737
Not sure about those weird in between planes eg Fokker 100?, haven't flown them on VA since the terminal opened.

Pooch - T1 now operates domestic flights for VA only as well as the international flights but they are at different ends of the terminal from each other. I think it's been like that from November last yr?? Or somewhere around there.

Nope T1 (the first part of what will be Perth Central) consists of International and the new VA wing.
T2 is the Regional terminal

Then you have QF Dom over the other side in T3/T4

Funny my comment was based on my observations which related to plane size rather than destination!
So the in between planes are likely regional and will go from T2 then? Remember taking one to Exmouth but then they announced it was the last flight there and I've not looked it up since.

And coughet, for now.

Sadly coughet ended on the 31st of January.

Denpasar is next on the 22nd of March.

Some flights have been right sized recently to the F100 instead of the 737. VAA flights operated by the VARA crew. To ensure everyone turns up to the correct terminal the F100 on these flights use T1 Domestic.
