Perpetual giftcard buying...

Over fifties can join National Seniors and get a password to buy 5% off Coles and Woolworths gift cards to a limit per day of $2,000.
The Woolies card is the Wish card which has wide applications in the various divisions....including liquor.
Now if you don't meet the age barrier just look at enrolling a family member who is 50 or older..
Now what I did :
2 Woolies Wish cards face value $500 each cost $950
2 Coles Gift cards face value $500 each cost $950
registered mail $2
That $1902 went onto a point a dollar MasterCard.
When we go to the different shops we need to blip the EDR points or the FlyBuy points then pay with the $500 stored value gift card.
If you are too young to join look to an older relative for $60 to cover 3 years but pay with your points earning credit card.
National Seniors will send a referral gift if you phone their 1300 number to enrol.
JB Hi Fi is 3% discount and there are others on the web site.

cove, you are the master *bows deeply*. Great to talk with you, alas I am deeply into paying off my AA points at present, so once that is done, this will be my next foray. I am loving my BP gift cards, so the appetite has been wetted - definitely not sated.

I gave the olds an imaginary food parcel in the form of a Coles Gift voucher and told them thanks for the fuel savings dockets they have been supplying us. Now if the olds can master it then I am confident the rest of us will handle it just fine.
So it is join someone in National Seniors and get the Gift Cards mailed to you and pay for those Gift Cards on a point a dollar Visa or MasterCard to stay ahead with the points game.

If you're under $50 a good idea is to buy the Entertainment Book. Your $60 will go to a charity in the first place but then you get heaps of discount possibilities.

They have offered Coles Gift Cards at 5% discount with free postage for several years and have now introduced Wish Gift Cards with the same discounts and free postage:
http://www.entertainmentbook.com.au/cardholders/Gift-Cards/2012---2013/Wish.aspx

The gift cards can only be purchased with Visa or Mastercard, not Amex but still good for a few points but not as many as using Amex at Woolies for most credit card schemes.

Thank you for your post gizzard.
I had not looked at RACWA site despite being a member for years. We only stopped doing the Entertainment Books when our youngest stopped playing team sport.
There are lots of opportunities we don't think about.
I have spent a couple of hours a week on making FF points and then using them for the highest value so I really wasn't thinking much about shopping.

A further update on this. Mrs gizzard tells me that she ordered some Wish Gift cards using the Entertainment Book 5% discount using Amex with free postage.
Coles cards only allow Visa/Mastercard.

I'll be using Amex to buy the cards with the 5% discount and QF points and then gaining more points when using the Gift Cards in Woolies.
