Ok my son liked the Westin last night.
Now is there a great steakhouse in Perth where you take your own drinks?
CE will compare it with his Park Street, South Melbourne haunt called Olive Tree so it will have to be good.

Short answer is sort of. Meat and Wine Co will let you BYO, but charge corkage at something like $30 from memory.

With prior arrangement, booking at a quiet time and a lot of persuasion on my part, I managed to get them to allow BYO at The Old Brewery once. I offered to pay corkage which was charged.

How is upgrade success rate for last at DT anybody know? How do Dt treat Diamonds re brekky?

We had a recent 1 night stay at the DT. There are some photos in the DT Perth thread.

Upgraded from base twin room, cheapest room booked on points to Exec King Panoramic View (Room 1512). Top floor corner room away from the elevators.

Diamond offering was full breakfast in the restaurant with no coffee tax or continental in the lounge.

Would definitely recommend it given the points/cash rates are very reasonable. They actually read the booking comments, room and bed preferences which is great.

Any intel on DT Perth's attitude to honouring Diamond benefits if booking made via 3rd party?

Edit: A quick call to DT and answer over phone is NO.

Extra Edit: I have never ever used HH pts to redeem a booking - is 22K / nt at DT fair value? Room rate / nt = $170 + 1.5% CC fee

3 x Double Extra Edit: Just booked non-refundable rate for King Guest Room @ $110 / nt room only.

Fair market value is around $0.005 USD per point so not a bad redemption.

Unless you are redeeming them at the very top or bottom end or in peak seasons like New Years Eve Hilton points are hard to get outsize value for normal mid range hotels with redemption rates sitting around that half a cent value.

If you register for the current points unlimited promo you would get 2,000 points back, 1,000 for the diamond my way and if they are still running it 1,000 for the DT opening promo.

So 18,000 net is fair value IMHO.

stayed at Intercon in Perth and Exec lounge and club room were exceptional

Time for another Perth visit so hotel needs to be sourced:
- DT has no EL so kinda rules that out
- IC now quarantine hotel so that counts it out
- QT might be option
- HH Pamelia has EL but I have never stayed there but I kinda thought reports are it is a bit soulless

Anything I am missing that has decent views - not interested in Burswood Hotels - TIA

The Treasury building has plenty of dining choices and some of our staff have enjoyed staying there. It has better food/fare than the Ritz Carlton and is worth a look.

Purely in terms of views, the Ritz Carlton and Double Tree (not the Northbridge one) would have excellent views. The Duxton, Pan Pacific and Hyatt should too if you have a river facing room.

I posted here about my staff at the Parmelia last weekend

We did a staycation at the Como Treasury Building back in August.

It has the best hard and soft product of hotels that we have stayed at in Perth (admittedly we haven't stayed at crown Towers or the Ritz) though views are not really a feature.

There is no lounge but the food and beverage options in the complex are comprehensive. If you enjoy fine dining degustation then Wildflower is the best available in Perth.

I haven't stayed at the Hilton Parmelia since the refurb but it looks to be a significant improvement and we have received suite upgrades on our previous stays a HH Diamond so will definitely stay again when it is convenient.

I've heard from two couples who have stayed at both the Ritz and Como that the Como is much better apart from the views.

Also, doesn't the Como have a complimentary mini bar?
