Perth-Joburg and Perth-Auckland return from 30 March 2026

Per Aeroroutes, PER-AKL and PER-JNB are scheduled to commence from 7 December with slightly different schedules than reported above (possibly partly due to daylight savings):

Perth – Auckland eff 07DEC25 3 weekly A330-200 (Last served until January 2018)
QF111 PER1700 – 0445+1AKL 332 136
QF112 AKL0830 – 1130PER 332 257

Perth – Johannesburg eff 07DEC25 3 weekly A330-200 (Last served until March 2023)
QF065 PER1330 – 1845JNB 332 257
QF066 JNB2135 – 1330+1PER 332 257

Correct. The original tweet from yesterday was showing the loadings for NS26 from 30 March 2026, hence the times (daylight savings as you note). Qantas haven't actually loaded the NW25/26 schedules yet.

While a 6:45pm arrival into JNB doesn't give you many onward connecting options given QF's MCT for JNB (2.5 hours). It'll even miss the last CPT flight.
 
The JNB arrival time doesn’t really allow much room for domestic connections (if any) the SAA flight is much better timed for onward connections which is a big selling point for many.

I had the same thought immediately. JNB still covers a good sized area for origin/destination, but this still effectively rules out domestic connections to virtually anywhere else in RSA. It'll work for many, but also won't for many others.

NZ passengers can just as easily connect in Sydney to get to JNB and still connect onwards domestically, so not convinced there's significant value-add there by routing NZ pax via PER.

(As an aside, the sooner we have a direct OZ-CPT flight, the better!)

This! With the number of domestic and southern Africa connections that can be made, CPT would be great. Much nicer place for a stop over as well. SA, LH, EK, BA, QR, TA, UA, DL, AF and KLM all go direct to CPT from outside Africa.

T3/T4 is getting quite a significant expansion and investment considering it’ll only be operational another 6 or so years. Gate 17 will be incorporated into the international area as T4 will be getting more domestic gates. Will be announced soon
