Perth members: Your input needed to start a regular AFF drinks night/event

Had a lazy weekend lunch at Steves in Nedlands with two friends and the food and drink service this month was ok.
We go to the Hyatt Cafe and the Atrium at Burswood and they are both ok. The Hyatt allows multiple Club At The Hyatt cards so I have two to get 2 free meals provided there are 4 or more at the table.
If it is drinks the Royal has worked in the past or the Holiday Inn at Burswood.
That rooftop bar sounded interesting but the city is a bit of a problem of getting parking.

We seem like a hard lot to nail down, bit like herding cats, so no wonder we haven't done this before...

How about we nail down a time before xmas for at least a quick catch up/few drinks/maybe a meal, say Wednesday 7th December or so (dead mid week which seems to have been indicated as working for people) and just see who is free to turn up and we can worry about something more specific/bigger production in the new year...

And maybe something pretty central, say subi or The Royal so perhaps not the parking issues of the CBD (i don't work there but work and live in Vic Park which is another option with lots of choices for restaurants/pubs all in reasonably close walking distance) and we can save the expensive sounding options (like Steve's etc and maybe Hyatt Cafe) once again for the new years???

I'm with Cove, not sure about the regular meeting thing, I'm a commitment phobe. Haha.
Having said that, I think I've been to most AFF drinks this year.. and haven't yet met the winchester at any?

I like the current model of meeting up when we have cameos from visitors from the east (eg. munitalP, nlagalle, Lindsay, anat01). We've got a nice little exchange program going on =D
Christmas is a good reason though.

The Royal is nice in all weathers - aircon inside, great view and breeze outside. Ticks the box for centrality. Steve's is good though, too. Definitely prefer a pub situation to hotel bars, unless of course there's some reason to be there (eg. freebies).
Also prefer a drink with eating optional so people can come and go when they like.

Ok, so it looks like The Royal in East Perth on 7 DEC is firming up as the favourite.

Any preference on start time? 1730, 1800 or 1830?

Will post a separate thread for RSVP's once we get agree on the time.

Don't know if the middle one, 1800, would be the best balance between not keeping the people who work in the city waiting too long whilst giving others who need to come into East Perth time to get there???

Or just those who rock up first can have a drink or to while they wait for others to arrive???

I should be able to go to the Royal by about 6.30pm on 7th December seeing it is a work day so don't be afraid to start without me. Is that a current pic of thewinchester as I don't think I have seen him up close?
i expect to get back to Perth on 6th so that 7th date looks good.
Thank goodness it isn't the Lancelin pub as I think of that as south Geraldton.

OMG I see it but I don't quite believe it, but it looks like the 7th works for me too, and I like the
Royal so a bonus.

SWMBO is in my case the PA who manages my diary:oops: it all depends on her so fingers crossed!

LOTO (Leader of the Opposition) aka hubby, darling, Mr jacfin will be all for my meetup with my "imaginary friends" on the 7th coz that means he is free to do is own thing too ! so if the PA says yes, I am in.

I think LOTO is a worthy acronym for the females of our forum to describe their male partners. I like it.

Ok, after the successful meetup on the 7th December, that I couldn't make, any interest in a next one?

Me!!!! :-)

Same place?

Or dinner?

If you want to do some drink nights we could do them as status runs from east coast.

As long as the venue is close to airport.

Just a thought
