Apparently Virgin are reviewing the use of Perth T2 following the resources downturn and cost savings.
Services will be relocated to T1 domestic.
Announcement will be made in the next 2 weeks if any changes do occur.

As a user of both terminals this makes total sense to me and believe both are under utilised.

The main problem I see is before 7am weekdays with a high number of charter flights and pressure on the lounge during this time.

I have heard that all RPT services will be leaving from Terminal 1.

All charter/non-RPT services will be at Terminal 2.

Will be interesting to see what ends up happening and when.

Forgot to add many charter flights wouldn't be able to use Terminal 1 as they are coming in from non-screened ports.

Terminal 1 does not have a proper exit channel for non-screened flights.

Whatever happened to the airside airconditioned walkway between T1D and T2 that was promoted in the lead up to T1 domestic?

I assumed they were going to close the lounge in T2 asap after T1 domestic went live and just share the T1 lounge...

EDIT:
I see the new perth airport website has finally published walkway on terminal maps...

Perth Airport - Passengers | Terminal maps

Will try remember to check it out when I'm there this Friday evening.

The only time T1d is under utilized is from around lunch time to mid afternoon and around 7-10 before the red eyes (similar to T3/4 for Qantas/Jetstar). I think it's nice actually having space to move around the terminal, space in the lounge and checking in/security/going to gate procedure taking minimal time. Of course from a business point of view it may not make sense but I hope they keep all current T2 flights in T2!
