A good mate of mine has been saving his points (QF) for years to do a trip of a lifetime to visit family in Zurich.

How does he get to Zurich from Perth using his QF points?

On the Qantas booking engine, PER-HKG, then HKG-ZRH.

If the booking can't be completed on-line, it may have to be done via the call centre.

Can also fly Qatar airways PER-DOH-ZRH.

Your mate may get hit with phone booking charges, try and do it on-line first as per the photo below. Dates for next September haven't been loaded up yet due to 353 day time frame for booking awards.

Surprisingly on-line with a simple PER-ZRH seems to work returning the CX/CX combination (I thought it would require segment-by-segment). So should be free of booking charges.

242,000 points return.
