Petite Perth Visit

Finally at the main attraction the Pinnacles themselves.

Before sunset they look like this:

But the real magic starts at sunset

Once the sun had set, we enjoyed a BBQ dinner with wine whilst telescope was set up and binoculars came out. The clear skies and virtually no light noise gave amazing views, but the temperature dropped to about 7C. I was very glad Id packed lots of layers including both a down puffer jacket and windproof coat.

Unfortunately I have no good photos of the night sky, as i couldn't work out the pro mode settings on my phone

We left abut 8pm getting back at 9:58 just in time to get our free drink before the lobby bar closed at 10pm, cutting it fine.

Sunday 16th July

A late breakfast before checking out and heading to PER.

If we had another day I would have headed down to Bussleton Jetty and Margaret River but that would have required leaving Perth around 7am and Mum doesn't like early starts (and I don't blame her).

I had pre-booked an Uber XL as we had 4 suitcases, driver arrived on time BUT I wasn't paying enough attention when he dropped us off, and realized it was at the wrong terminal 1 instead of 4. Lucky there was a free transfer bus ready to leave so 10 minutes later we were at the correct terminal.

Got seats in the lounge just as the first pizzas of the day were coming out. I like the pizza oven as the specialty food for PER J lounge, much more consistent than Spice Bar in MEL which can be hit and miss (and usually not at all spicey)

The flight boarded about 5 minutes late but priority boarding was enforced. Meal offered can be seen here: Qantas domestic economy meals

I will say the crew were more attentive on the return, I was greeted by name at meal service and because both of the parents were having a snooze when the lindt balls were offered, the FA left extras with me for when they woke up which was a few minutes later.

The just before preparing for landing the FA returned with a paper coffee cup filled with another 10 or so Lindor Balls for my parents to take home. As very infrequent flyers they appreciated this gesture.

My sister and I challenged each other in a race to complete the crossword, sudoku and word puzzles in the QF magazine, I won. Then before we knew it we had landed smoothly.

Unfortunately luggage too about 30 minutes to appear, and despite dropping all bags together, mine came out a good 5 minutes before the rest.

Jumped in an Uber to my place, Parents retrieved their car from my garage, a late dinner at the local Chinese Restaurants and just like that the trip was done.
