Pets in the Cabin - Coming soon on Virgin Australia

pets aren’t running around the cabin wee’ing, pooing and biting people
Ill complete the sentence...... unlike some two legged ferals.....
If you aren’t prepared to let your pet perish in case of emergency you probably shouldn’t be taking them onboard IMO
What about elderly grandmother who uses a walking stick and for whom the pedestrian crossing lights at an intersection start flashing red before she starts walking
Or what about 6month old baby who weighs 8 kg which is more than a lot of lap dogs?

Interesting all this discussion, yet yesterday I get a questionnaire from QF, and it's asking.....what's your opinion on animals being brought on board aircraft. Well I never.....,,,,🤣🤣

Nobody wants them on board either.

Hopefully helped out. But not at the expense of getting the flow going first.

Generally not kept in cages under the seat in front, though perhaps an idea to be taken up in the future.

Interesting that we're equating pets to people. I wouldn't be allowing this for many reasons, but one is that the owners are guaranteed to drag the cage out and thus slow any evacuation.

Thats a fantastic point - I wonder if the instruction would be to leave them as is with bags, though we know how it would actually play out.

The instruction will be exactly that… the pet carrier - which is unlikely to be a hard ‘cage’ as everyone seems to suggest, but a soft-sided carrier akin to a pack back - is to be left on board during an evacuation.

Best option is not let them onboard in the first place....

In AU properly registered and extremely well trained guide dogs accompanying an equally "trained" blind "handler" are allowed by law provided all conditions are met.

I don't have a personal problem with the above, a rare occurrence anyway. But random pets with various DYKWIA owners on whim in the cabin vs the already existing hold arrangements - no!

Food for thought, or not 🤮 (from social)

𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲d 𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗼𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗔 𝗣𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝗜𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀

A flight from Houston to Seattle was unexpectedly diverted to Dallas because a dog defecated in the First Class section, leading to an unpleasant odor that required extensive cleaning efforts. The aircraft remained at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport for two hours while the cleaning crew worked to eliminate the stench. However, their initial attempt was inadequate, causing further delays as they had to address missed spots.

The situation led to additional complications, including spoiled in-flight meals and the inaccessibility of the first-class lavatory, which remained contaminated..

At least the dog has taste.
No pooing in economy for him 🤣

so what happens if
1. there is someone with a dog next to me and I don't like it and then it does its business in its carrier and I really don't like it and nowhere to move too?
2. I vomit from the smell or get and asthma attack and need oxygen . Could easily happen to a pax.
