They are the sun-shades on the external windows. They're purely functional and pretty much in-line with the MEL lounge ones.

I meant the floor haha.

I am stunned that no-one has actually visited the lounge yet and taken some sneaky snaps... must be uber exclusive :P

What I meant was that this design seems really staid and out of character with the whole brand. Given the echoes of the Clubhouse with its name I expected something much more along those lines. A bit more Bond-esque I suppose. I didn't expect leather wingback chairs in chocolate brown thats for sure. But it hardly matters what I think since its unlikely I'll ever be confonted with its interior.

DJ listened to the feedback from their normal lounges being too white sterile and bright which ends up looking a bit cheap and have actioned this so it's good that they are listening! It's hard to tell from the photos if they have gone too far. Best to see in person before you judge.

A couple of the directors here have used it I'll have to try and go in with them one day.

Wasn't the talk once the whole Sydney lounge makeover/renovation is complete that upstairs will be a Plat lounge?
HAHA - Well yes!

But looking after a majority of customers first would be a good way to start instead of a select few celebrities and other people.

I think so, but nothing was confirmed was it ?

I read somewhere on ausbt it will be the same as QF. Members / gold lounge, J/plat lounge, CL/VIP lounge.

Plenty of room upstairs (the AN GW used to span both levels). They could easily have a small 'The Club' up there and a J lounge too. Although, the QF J lounge is big in SYD, and there wouldn't be enough room there for the equivalent sized CL and J lounges in the VA terminal.

Seems like a complex arrangement to have three tiered lounges like QF. I think QF has been wedged into maintaining that lounge structure, whereas VA has the opportunity to have a 'chairmans style' lounge which is open to J / plat guests, and a povo lounge for the Golds and Lounge members.

Afterall, VA doesn't have to copy QF in everything do they? :P

Maybe it's not open to platinum level because of the QF Status match. I wonder if as all the freebie levels expire if those of us who have well one truly earned platinum will get access to the club over time ???

bu all the freebies would have expired in late Aug/ early Sep - then they piled on yet more offers and renewed others anyway

Only if you can direct hundreds of thousands of dollars of travel towards VA, have a very high (and positive) profile in the media, or are in a role of political importance.

The Club isn't about frequent flyers. It's about corporate schmoozing, subtle political influence and generating PR.

True, but with awilcockson being comped after earning SFA SC's, they're not going to want to open 'The Club' to him now, are they ;)
