Visiting friends in San Diego. They asked us if we stopped at a very nice shopping area called La hoya.We said no but there was a similar place called La Jolla.:oops:

Tasmanians can spot a mainlander straight away when they say "Lawn-sess-ton" instead of "Lon-sess-ton" (which some of the locals call "Incest-ton"). In London the town in Cornwall is pronounced Lawn-ston, whereas in the place itself the locals say "Lance-ern".
Hobartians sometimes refer to their home as "Slobart".

In Vic there is a town called Colac pronounced coal-lack. In NSW the town Colac-Colac is pronounced clack-clack.

On the subject of aboriginal plurals, I saw a spoof Australian citizenship test that said you had to know that it was fine to say Wagga but not to say Woy

We can discuss this over a decent Tas Pinot or sav Blanc when you come down.

If you get through immigration once I've tipped them off
