can't speak for either ozdock, but Hvar is completely overrun with young, drunk aussies. actually the drunk aussie was all the talk with the locals sadly.

Great thread !
I would go back to Poland, Austria, Sri Lanka and India in a heartbeat .
The only places I wouldn't go back to are coughet and Bali

Unfortunately didn't get over to the islands then - travelling there was sometimes a bit more complicated in the 1970's with a Communist Government in power and no internet to research:) .

The drunk aussie syndrome has been and still is a real problem. It encouraged us to move on from Munich as Oktoberfest approached and seeing and dealing with the drunk pax stumbling off AUS (Australian Union of Students) Bali charter flights in the mid 70's certainly put me off going there.

Have been to Hong Kong several times so now would be happy to spend one night maybe on a transit but not really interested in staying longer at present. Not that keen on Bali though I hear the touts are not as bad as when we were there in the late 90s. Auckland is another place I don't need to spend more time in :)

Would go back to Canada, Whistler 2018 for a white Christmas, then New Foundland in the future. Canyon Country USA, concentrate on this part of the US we didn't complete to satisfy my photographic needs, and then I will be done.

I'm in no hurry to spend any more time in LA. Really don't like it.

Wouldn't return to Galapagos either. I enjoyed it but didn't love it.

Would easily return to Cuba, Sri Lanka (and have) and South Africa. There is no end to my appetite for NYC!

After a recent visit, I'm keen to spend a few more days in Dubai.

I'd love to return to the Greek Islands, Italy, Disneyland in LA, and some of the national parks in the US.

I wouldn't plan a trip to duplicate places that I have already been (e.g. Niagara, New York), unless I felt like there was lots more to see (e.g. Paris). Especially when the world is a big place, and there are lots of new places to explore (and the list grows).

Its interesting to see China come up on this thread so often (its on my bucket list - although the pollution concerns me).

I wouldn't go back to Belize. Didn't think much of my time there.

There are plenty of places I would go back to but am unlikely to as there are other places I haven't been to that are higher on the list of places to visit.

The places I've most hated were Palermo, Istanbul and Athens because of weird or upsetting incidents with locals or local conditions.

I wouldn't exactly say I hated St Thomas and St John in the US Virgin Islands but again the locals there aren't that welcoming (even if you're not a day tripper off a cruise ship).

Probably I won't go back to Italy either partly for the same reason (male Italian officials love to shout at you to display their authority) but partly because I've seen a lot of it and there's not much left I haven't seen, so there are other places to see first.

A lot of US places are fine to see once and I don't feel the need to go back eg Boston, Miami, San Fran, Hawaii and Las Vegas (although I've been to the last two twice but really only for SC reasons). On the other hand I'm keen to go back to DC, and NYC never gets old.

Funnily enough the 2 rudest immigration officials I've ever encountered were both Canadian and as a result going back there is quite a long way down my list.

I doubt I'll feel the need to see more of South America. Having seen Rio, BA and several places in Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Colombia the common theme was very dirty, dilapidated streets and poor, desperate or just plain criminal people keen to steal from you if they got a chance.

Places I want to revisit are France, French Polynesia, Denmark, Sweden and Switzerland. Also I haven't been to Germany since I was 11 so I want to go there to see it as an adult. For quicker, "get away" trips - Singapore or NZ.

Maybe one day I'll go to Iceland, the Cook Islands, Samoa or Tonga. Maybe. So many possible destinations, not enough time.

The Russian tourists were very evident this week in coughet and on our cruise. Probably not an enhancement to the usual social graces. :o
And yet on Santorini recently they were affable, fun loving, and while a little boisterous at times they never seemed to cause any difficulties. We much preferred them to some of the UK visitors to the Island.

The place I enjoyed least in the world was Damascus (before the current conflict made it even worse). Locals were terrified of interacting with foreigners for fear of reprisals from secret police. But even it had some wonderful history and architecture to redeem it.
Somehow I always find something to love about the places I visit - even Brisbane has a couple of nice bars these days....! I would gladly go back to anywhere, with France, San Fran and NZ at top of list.

Lots of places I've been that were amazing which I'd revisit in a heartbeat - New York, Santorini, pretty much most of South America (apart from Cusco - nice but our tour spent just too much time there) and Africa, New Zealand. There are so many other places to go to though (ie Scandinavia, Russia, Germany etc that I've never been) and I'd probably try to prioritise them.

Places I'd try not to go again - Rome (the rudest in my travels), Bali, LA.

As much as I love some places, it is never quite as great the 2nd time.....I find it more exciting to explore a new place that I haven't been before...in my quest to join the "100 countries" club. However, there are a few places I have no intention on returning to; Morocco, Bali, coughet...

I'm definitely in that club, however Russia ... After visiting for 10 days the first time, I immediately started plans to go again for another week in the same cities (Moscow and St Petersburg) the following year, even though the Visa is a true PITA. Can't wait for the opportunity to go back ... maybe the east this time.

Interesting, how long ago was this? We found the people in Damascus, indeed all of Syria to be extremely friendly, and very happy that we were in their country.

How close to the "100 countries" club are you?

How close to the "100 countries" club are you?

Not very close unfortunately...about 40 odd more to go :(...trying to add 3 new countries per year so will take me another 15 years at least. However, I nearly have a year's worth of LSL which I hope to use soon to do a blitz to get to my goal more quickly.
