I look like him too! Not the face but the body shape.

Still no mining towns. I hope ZBL, BLT or EMD are mining towns or I have wasted my mining tour. ;)
Or you could simply rename the tour to The' Queensland Water Tour'.

OK Bill. I understood it the first time.

No rain in the outback for the week I have been here although it is green everywhere. Maybe they should ask me to visit the area next time there is risk of flooding.

The 15th and final Qantaslink flight for this trip EMD-BNE this morning. And I got to visit 3 mining towns as well, ZBL, BLT and EMD.

Look out for the next installment in the "Western Australian Mining Towns trip in January 2072"!

Will that include the b*s trip from Paraburdoo to Tom Price?

If I am still alive in 64 years time I will definitely include the b*s trip from PBO-TPR. Who knows it may well be a QF codeshare again by then....

Youve still got to get to the Isa-the real Qld mining town.

Yes I know but flights are too expensive to even consider going there for a while. I can almost get a return trip to SE Asia for that price. Now if I was offered a contract there different story.

Can anyone help with rego for BNE-HVB at 16:30 on 28/01/08 and BNE-SYD at 12:45 on 1/02/08?

The first one I totally forgot about and the second one my eye sight was not at its best but I think it is 767 VH-OGD!

Not sure how that happened. :D
Post padding. Nah, just kidding. :p

It was probably due to pressing the "Submit Reply" button twice....

hope you checked out the real estate in the area - have a few properties there and they rent for over 700 bucks a week! Pays nicely for the trip to visit them each year:p

Which area? Barcaldine, Blackall, Charleville or Roma? I could not imagine too many properties going for $700 a week unless they were huge stock stations.

Anyway I will be lucky to fund future air travel let alone investment properties....

In WA in some mining areas where there are severe shortages of homes, the rental prices are mind-blowing. I imagine QLD has a similar thing in areas.

yup same as in WA, there are mining towns where that rent is quite normal. The Bowen Basin area is one of the ones that if you're prepared to do your research, it can fund that airtravel lifestyle quite well. I'm back there prior to easter for a quick trip out to visit the properties, then off to the QLD Islands for a spot of relaxation.

Flight numbers would make it easier. ;)

I'll get back to you on Monday.

Moranbah is a bit like that. Impossible to get accomodation overnight and houses are $600k + and you're in the middle of nowhere.

When I visited MOV it was that bad that we had to fly in and fly out of Brisbane on the same day or we'd be sleeping on the streets.

Glad you had a good trip JohnK.

You were correct John with regards to VH-OGD:

VH-OGD (B767 QFA) 1501 20080201 QF0531 (YBBN-YSSY)
VH-SDE (DH8B QFA) 1641 20080128 QF2380 (YBBN-YHBA)
I'm not sure if the BNE-HVB registration is correct though. I have a feeling the flight may have been operated by a DH3? serfty will probably get the right information for you...

I look forward to hearing about your trip. I'm off to LRE shortly with a few fellow AFFers and look forward to seeing how the landscape has changed.

I hope you enjoyed your time in Queensland :D

Thanks. Definitely a DH3. I did not have the pleasure of a Q400 on this trip.

I did enjoy the trip but as usual way too many flights scheduled and not enough time to look around.

QF2380 on 28Jan was VH-SBJ.
QF0531 on 01Feb was VH-OGD

Wunala Dreaming, QF2381 is the 'turnaround' for whatever operates QF2380. Around midday on 28th, VH-SDE was rescheduled to operate QF2380/QF2381 on the 29th. Originally it was to be VH-SCE.

Hey there is nothing wrong with that bus, just a little slow for my liking. The Landcruiser travels alot faster and gets us in earlier so we do not have to line up to checkin at the Lodge. Oh sorry NM, I forgot you have suffered memory loss and can't remember anything of the trip.
