Platimum or 2 x Gold

I've got a similar thing.

Big family trip this year, 4 of us, totalling 1120 status credits incoming.

I'm gold, she is nothing (flies with work occasionally, usually QF).

If I pool everyone to me, I go to Platinum (1120 SCs).
If we pool 1 kid to each of us, we both go gold - me renewing, her gaining for the first time (560 SCs each).

If I go Platinum, and fail to meet the renewal SC target next year (almost certain to miss it), I'd revert to Gold for the year after, right? SO that would basically give me 2 years' status off this trip. If we both go Gold we'll both need to fly enough to maintain.

Next year we're likely only to do a family trip to NZ or Fiji and 2-3 business trips, plus maybe 1 family domestic trip for a wedding.

Interesting dilemma.

I dont think that is correct regarding the family pooling ( but im happy to be corrected ) but i was told that you can swap between various family members as many times as you like. Its the points transfers that are capped at 4 times per year.

Its not stated anywhere but when I have tired to swap it after a few times it said you can only change this four times a year.

I find the arrivals express cards not worth much but the departure ones are great.

Looking for a couple of departure cards if anyone has them, young lady at work will be going on her honeymoon on a god awful early flight so it will be crowded. Would like to give her some first time flying hints, like express pass. Thanks.

A few airlines now have both cards in one I know VA and TG do but i'm not sure of any others.
