Don't forget CL can also stand for Choice Liquor, so as Platinum One is below it, there could be an elitist spin on the name. I'd have thought P1 makes senses, or W1 if they're the new number 1 w@nkrs!

Will have a look at the poll when I get to the computer.

How about P1E?
Platinum 1 Enhanced.
Although it isn't derogatory enough really and it breaks the two letter code protocol.

But I like P1E!

DP - Douchebag Platinum...

I think W1 is good.

Please not DP, that acronym's been desecrated for anyone who knows the full horrors of the internet!

The problem with just a 2 letter acronym is that all the other tiers are a one-word name - Bronze, Silver, Gold, Plat. As such it's easy to make a take-the-piss acronym of two letters as you have [mocking adjective] + [tier name] as the acronym. With Plat One being two words, it ruins that so I think you're going to have to break convention and go with a TLA for the name!

WP1 works for me as well as any of the other ones but none of them grab me and make me go 'that is the one'. :(

edit: Whatever option, I think it's important to emphasise exactly how much of a wanker they are, above and beyond the call of duty that is normal wankery from the standard plats :D

Ewing had an excellent idea in another thread to turn the acronym around, with the 3600+SC crowd remaining as the WPs. http://www.australianfrequentflyer....the-unloved-wp-thread-30097-7.html#post437074

So this got me to thinking. The new acronym could be for the sub-3600SC platinums and could focus on take the micky from them. I had a few ideas repeated here that might give an idea of what I mean:

Excellent idea. WP = plat one. But for the sub-3600 plats what about:
  • Lessor/loser Platinum
  • Barely Plat
  • minor plat
  • SG+
  • Pseudo Gold
  • Crying Plat

Warks P1E has given me a couple more ideas.:idea:

Firstly as a comment, do we need to even include the 1, they are still platinum. Don't we just need to distinguish between the 2 types of platinum.

So P1E, could just be a PE, or EP. But I think this works better on the sub-1200 platinums, if we consider the being enhanced as not being an improvement. So we get:

Platinum one = remains as WP, and
Platinum = Enhanced Platinum (EP), Because these are the platinums crying about being enhanced.

How about P1E?
Platinum 1 Enhanced.
Although it isn't derogatory enough really and it breaks the two letter code protocol.

But I like P1E!

Have no idea what DP means but I don't like it anyway.

How about the new uber platinums retain the WP appellation and those of us remaining change our title to say PM, Platinum Minor.

Definitely a meeting required. Maybe it could be part of the Canberra get together in October?

How about POA?
- Platinum One Acronym
- Price On Application (ie QF doesn't know whether there is an additional QF status credit requirement)

Platinum is passe ..... bronze, silver, gold, platinum. There's only one place left to go :-

Unobtainium
I vote for FU as the new moniker!

I say Platinum One. I see you say that is not an acronym! Oh well.

Can't stand the WP term, as it usually isn't true. I think we might want to move on.
The natives do need another 2 letter acronym to raise more confusion in posts. :p
